Vaginal Hysterectomy bleeding 5 weeks

I had tvh, bladder sling and other repairs on Feb 19. I still have to wear a regular pad day and night. I forgot to ask my doctor on my 2 week checkup if it was normal. I'll call my doc if you call yours.

Vaginal Hysterectomy bleeding 5 weeks

Since my surgery on January 25, I have had spotting issues every day. Nothing but a couple of drops and a little more after a BM. I also have been dealing with a UTI and noticed a little bit of pink in urine. I've been on antibiotics for this for approximately a month while we get to the 'bottom' of this. The catheter did a real number on me. I was told by my dr. that the vaginal cuff can take quite a while to heal and he assured me that everything looked good, stitches were still there (apparently they are the long-lasting type), and the bleeding I was seeing was just the last bits of healing taking place.
That appointment was at 51/2 weeks and I'm at 61/2 weeks and all bleeding has stopped. Just outta nowhere, it stopped. No blood after BM's and UTI under control so no pinkish 'wipes' there.
I also was told by my dr. that this bleeding could continue for 3 months while everything is knitting itself back together again.
If you're not feeling great about the bleeding, mention it to dr. at next appointment and call right away if you should notice an increase in amount.
I was completely in your shoes just over a week ago and that week make a huge difference for me. Keep us posted.

I'll throw my perspective in the ring... I'm almost 4 weeks post op, and haven't had a drop of blood since my TVH.

I had a TVH and i didn't bleed until the 5 week mark. When I went in at 6 weeks I needed silver nitrate as part of my cuff wasn't healing. I passed stitches but I didn't bleed from them. Funny how we all have such different experiences.
