Surgery tomorrow 3/13 and getting nervous...any fellow sisters?

Okay so today is the day before surgery. I took the day off from work and got kids ready for school. Although my mind is racing worring about surgery and DH's staying sane, maybe I should have gone to work!!

Planning on getting the last laundry done, clean my kitchen and then get my room and bathroom ready. Alot has already been done so that will keep me busy for a couple hours....then what? Dropping kids of at grandma's this evening and hubby is taking me to a movie. I guess I will be hanging around on this board alot today and tonight, I am not expecting much sleep.

No bowel prep, nothing after midnight includin pain meds! Check in at 5:30 and nurse said they can give me something for pain right away. I am the 1st surgery of the day at 7:30. TVH with TOT sling and anterior repair and I get to stay overnight.

If anyone else is going to the castle tomorrow ...we can keep some good company!!

I saw your post and I wanted to say "Good Luck tomorrow". I am new here and I feel for you on your surgery tomorrow. First off in the morning they will have you change into their hospital getup. They will give you something for your pain and for anxiety. THe anesthiologist will come in and discuss his job to you. You will be awake when you are taken to op room. But you will immediately go to sleep. When you wake up Voila...it is done and you may feel some discomfort but not like you have been feeling. If you are hurting....immediately ask for pain med. They will by YOUR choice give you a pump that will help with the pain. Be persistant about that or they will choose not to give it to you. I wish you well.....my surgery was on 2/14/08. After tomorrow you are on the road to recovery!!!! So take it easy and remember that this is your time and to be patient with yourself.

Do not be surprised if they keep you for at least one night. My doctor was only going to let me stay one day and come home but he felt that pain management would be better achieved in the hospital. If you feel that you should stay by all means do it for yourself. One night may do you good. It will wear you out getting home so be prepared to go home and go straight to bed. Do not bend down either....yeeeeouchie. P.S. If you have slippers or booties or heck any socks...just wear them in the morning. You will not be able or even want to worry about putting on shoes.

Hey Nicole,

My plan for the day isnt working. I am so nervous I almost cancelled yesterday because I was feeling so good. Now today I am terrible and found out last night I have to do bowel prer and wasnt expecting it.

I am a procrastinator, so yesterday I put things off because I felt good and thought I would do them today since I would "still" be feeling good. I just have to relax and let things fall where they will. I will be thinking of you and hope you will be feeling good in 24 hours.

I also go to the castle tomorrow I have to be at the hospital at 5:10 am for a 7:30 surgery. I'm having LAVH TVH BSO and staying one night. I know I'm so nervous too! I had my pre-op yesterday and my Dr said are you nervous? Well yea! I know I won't be sleeping good tonight. Well I haven't for about 2 months I wake up in pain. So I'm sure I'll be on the board too. We'll be fine I'm focusing on being pain free (of course after I heal). I'm in so much pain now anything is better then this! Best wishes!
