12 weeks out - nerve pain in groin

Hello, It has been 12 weeks since my hysterectomy. It was done abdominal and everything was taken. I still have the swelly-belly, and feel pretty good except for this pain that used to come and go but since I've been moving around alot I get this pinching pain in the left side of my groin area and it's there 24-7. first the doc thought it was a hernia but now they think it's a pinched nerve. It really hurts I'm wondering if any one else has experienced this!!!Please respond I really need to know if someone has/ had this........ MIXEDBERRIES

12 weeks out - nerve pain in groin

mixedberries: I am going through exactly the same thing as you right now. I started getting the same pain last Sunday, called the doctor on Monday. He didn't know what it was so admitted me into the hospital for tests overnight. Had catscan, urine and blood tests, and monitoring. He also started me on antibiotics and I was on liquids only for 2 days. The catscan showed up normal, he is now going to do a laparoscopy this coming Tuesday- he thinks I may have adhesions or scar tissue attaching to my bowel? He didn't mention to me a pinched nerve at all, but I guess if that's it, he will find it? Good luck and let me know what happens. My doctor put me back on pain meds if I need them. Tylenol definitely does NOT help when it gets really bad.

12 weeks out - nerve pain in groin

Hm. I have had on and off mild pain in my hip groin. I had severe pain in my legs and groin pre surgery as part of the cramping, so I have just assumed that isnce the uterine ligaments attach there, this was part of the normal healing process. But I dont' have nearly as much pain as both of you sound like you have.

faifylou, thanks for repling to me. I'm sorry you had to go to the hospital!!! I wonder why the Doc thinks you have adhesions on your bowel?? My pain started about 4-6 weeks this pinching-burning pain on my left side it would come and go, but when I started moving around more when I was feeling better the pain would get worse... I even wen't back to work for a week and then the pain got even worse I'm a medical assist on my feet all day, I was in tears at the end of the day. So I went to the Doc and said I need to be looked at they first thought It was an inguinal hernia. They sent me to a general surgen, he said no hernia he thinks it's an entrapped nerve, so now on wed. I'm going to a pain mangement Doc. Even when I sit down I can't describe it to you I feel this tightness, I some times feel the Doc might of sewed me to tight on one side!!!!please keep in touch with me, good luck with the laparscopyon tuesday!! policymuse, thanks for the reply.... My Doc also said that the ligaments were cut and that I might be having the pain from that on the one side, but I have felt that she was just being "matter of fact" with me. So it makes me feel a little better that some others are having this pain. Do you still have the pain ? Mixedberries

12 wks post-op

I'm sorry you are having such pain at 12 wks.! I hope you can get some help that will stop your pain.

I have on and off mild discomfort in the lower left side of my abdomen. I also notice that after sitting for a little while whenever I stand I feel sore and stiff - kind of similiar to that feeling sometime after surgery. I'm beginning to wonder if I've been going too fast or doing too much since my 6 wk. milestone. I sorta figured that once 6 wk was passed, you just go back to doing everything. Is that not correct? Does anyone else have a similiar experience?

12 weeks out - nerve pain in groin

Hi mixed berries, I too have this reoccuring pain/burning sensation in my lower left abdomen. My DR. told me it was a nerve issue also. He said sometimes when they suture you (fascia) some nerves might get entrapped. He assured me it would go away, but not given a time frame. I have experienced great pain relief using naprocin prescription he gave me as well as toradol for pain. I still get the pain, but I am better able to handle it and it doesn't last as long. I also am taking Lyrica for nerve damage in my feet. I have seen other women are taking this for their nerve pain here on this site. Maybe you can put in a call to DR. before laparoscopy(SP?) faifylou.

Mixedberries--yes, it comes and goes, but I am just past 5 weeks. On the other hand, I don't have the sense that its almost done!

Thanks everyone! I did ask the doctor about this. He is going to send me to a pain management specialist if he doesn't find anything on Tuesday. He told me he doesn't think that will be the case though. I'm just ready to get it over with and start feeling better! Good luck, mixedberries. I'll be thinking of you!
