When I took milk of magnesia it made me nausea so I quit taking it however, the prune juice works too.

BM question (sorry if this is gross)

I am having painful BM's, but I am very thankful to be having them....I think holding them in would be much worse and much more pain....I am 9 days post-op and have not taken any stool softeners, but today I bought some due to some vaginal cuff repair....YIKES!

I guess when it is time...I run to the bathroom (sweating the whole way getting worked up about how bad it is actually going to hurt) then try to hold my breath and breathe like I did during childbirth...sounds ridiculous, but for now...that is the only way that I can get through the 90 seconds of irritable pain....

Hope each day gets better for you....keep your head up and keep thanking the stars that we are able to BM....those that aren't, seem to be in more lingering and longer stages of pain than us.....

BM question (sorry if this is gross)

I wonder why you don't use something to help in the first few weeks to keep you from having pain...that is not necessary

BM question (sorry if this is gross)

Because up until today, my vaginal cuff was entirely intact, but since it has separated...it is miserable....so I'm hoping that this is short lived....probably the first couple of BM's probably helped to irritate my unhealed vaginal cuff.

The first week, I felt great! The weekend has been terrible...

BM question (sorry if this is gross)

I had the same issue...I tried the enema on day 3 like I was told from doc. It worked but only a little and my stomach killed me. I got some laci lebeau super dieter's tea because it has senna in it...it worked and didn't make my stomach hurt. I made it a little stronger than the box said because I really wanted to go and even still I didn't have the cramping or pain like I did with the enema.

BM question (sorry if this is gross)

I had my 1st (2nd & 3rd) BM on day 3 post op but is was more like diarrhea than anything else. I am still dreading the 1st "real" movement! (I am at day 4 post op now) I sent hubby to the store to get prunes and others things. Thanks for all the suggestions!

BM question (sorry if this is gross)

I was given one piece of advice from someone and it was "use stool softeners" and so that was what I really wanted to know about from my Dr to avoid any problem. He gave me a large bottle of some prescription powder that really didn't do much-and it said may take a few days!!! huh...so I took Colace from Walgreens and it works great without giving you an upset stomach. It says take up to 3 a day at one time or space it out....these are the 100 mg tablets...so I took two at one time and spaced the 3rd out the same day....and sometimes I took 3 at one time. I have had no pain with this and I figure we may as well use this for as long as we need to. My Dr said this was weaker than what he prescribed so if it worked to use it instead....no problem....am 4weeks today....good luck.

lol glad 2 know im not alone on the potty

sooo i had a good laugh when i saw that some1 said she took a breathe and bared down like it was child birth....i was like geez thats exactly how i felt. I was ready to haveb myself commited to the hospital today until i had a BM. My DH dosnt understands why i cant go if i really really gotta go but he still rushed out to walmart for coffee and miralax and i had extras of fleet liquid for my bowel prep. I had the colace perscription too and tried it all and wanted to cry when i saw that miralax would take up to 3 days!!! I felt like i didnt HAVE 3 days. But when something happened (trust me not enough to get all excited about)i was honkerblonked. I felt cheated lol. But seriouslt nothing seems to work i do hear that the enamas are the way to go so i think that is my LAST resort so....heres hopin

BM question (sorry if this is gross)

I went 5 days without a BM and I was taking the 2 colace a day. I then drank milk of magnesia but ended up throwing that up. I have been drinking a small glass of warmed up prune juice. Not that good but it has worked every day.

Have you tried prune juice along with the other things your trying. It seems to have helped me. I drink about half a glass every other day and it seems to be helping. Don't stop taking the colace in combination with all the other things it really does help!
