anxiety a go go

I am having such anxiety. I just want this done. The waiting is driving me nuts. I'm not sleeping well. I have 11 days to go. I'm at the point in this whole thing that I'm not scared at all. I'm just wanting to get the healing over with. I have had several moments of total "Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!" The clenching of teeth, the nightmares, the rolling stomach. This I think is worse than actually being told I had to have this surgery done.

Yup your right - the waiting is worse than the surgery and recovery - COMBINED! I know the two weeks before my surgery date seemed like eternity.

Hang in there - your almost there and we will see you on the post op side!

All the best!

anxiety a go go

Hi Irishfriend,

We've all been there. You're right that the waiting is the worst part. You know you're ready mentally and emotionally and just want to get the surgery over with. Time seems to drag and the days are intolerable.

I tried to have dinner or lunch or do some kind of social things with friends in the couple of weeks beforehand. I also worked until 2 days before - took a comp day and did last minute shopping and got a haircut the day before surgery. Knowing I wouldn't be able to shower for a few days and didn't know how I'd feel otherwise, I got my hair cut VERY short.

Hang in there. By the time surgery comes around, the day or two before, you'll be wondering where the time went and realizing you have another dozen things you wanted to do.

anxiety a go go

oh oh don't I know the jitters - the waiting almost killed me! I threw myself into a very involving project (writing out my business plan/ doing my taxes) and set such tight deadlines that I hardly had time to think. Not sure how I would have coped otherwise - I had to trick my mind and lead it out of the side door. Too much time to think can be detrimental. This is the very worst part - hang in there, we will see you on the other side of the fence. Good luck to you.

anxiety a go go

I too am going crazy. I look like I haven't slept in weeks. Even after my pre-op with my Doctor on Friday, I am still nervous. She told me exactly how she will do it & that she will take lots of pictures so I can see everything they take out of me. I think my biggest concern is the unknown. Will I have ovaries, when I awake? How much pain will I be in? My Dr. informed me she does not use the Morphine pump, she feels it actually slows down recovery.
Anyway, bottom line is, we all understand what you are going through. My surgery is the 25th so, this is my last week of work for a while. Yeah!! about that.

anxiety a go go

Thanks everyone. I need you all at work with me. I had an anxiety attack today. Just a little one. Part of my problem is that I am leaving many files that require my bosses input and he doesn't seem concerned. I haven't been able to "leave it all at work" I think constantly. Now I think I am having the anxiety at home just because it carries over. I can't even sit long enough to read a couple chapters in a book. My husband keeps telling me to relax, but I guess I'm at the nesting stage. I'm worried about laundry and cleaning the house. We're having Easter at our house this year. A week before surgery. I'm a glutton for punishment .

I've just got to find something to "chill" me out. Maybe a nice bath. Hmmmm. That sounds nice. Might be the last one for awhile.
