Sex after hysterectomy

Hi all, thought I'd add my two bits. My Dr.also told me to wait minimum 6 weeks for sex. Must see her first to get the go ahead. Orgasms okay though. Had first orgasm on the weekend thanks to DH and it was okay but different. As for favorite lube I use Ultra Glide which is sold by Passion Parties. It's available in liquid or gel. I've used it before Hyst as well. Do you think the time lines Dr.s give for starting sex has anything to do with whether or not your cervix is still there?

Yes liquid silk is very goood !!

I do think that the timeline for sex is based on whether the cervix if left or not. I think the average is 4 weeks if the cervix is left and 6 weeks if not.

I kept my cervix but was told by surgeon and family doctor to wait at least 6 weeks anyway. So I will, but not very patiently i must say. When we do try I am planning to be veeeeeery careful. I think I'll try some of that liquid silk stuff a few of you mentioned, just in case.

Hope they sell it in Canada.

Sex after hysterectomy

My hysterectomy was laproscopic. They took the uterus out through the vagina. Took the cervix, too. Six weeks before anything goes into the vagina, per the doctor.

Sex after hysterectomy

My dr. told me that I could have sex at six weeks post op, but to me, even that was way too soon. I was still having problems getting in and out of bed at 4 months. The thought of sex was a total turn off. It wasn't until 7 months post op that I even felt like myself again. And I think it does make a difference whether or not you have your ovaries out. I had everything out except my cervix, and that is only because it was too difficult to take out due to endometriosis. It's almost a year now, and I really don't care if I ever have sex. Yes, I wish I did feel like I wanted it. But those feelings are gone now. I use estrogen cream so that helps with the dryness, but it's still not like you were before the operation. I have to use additional lubrication on top of the estrogen cream, and even then I don't think sex is all that great anymore. I could take it or leave it. Mostly leave it. I wasn't prepared for this. My surgeon said I'd be as good as new in a month. It took me almost 5 months to be able to stop taking the iron pills. The surgery is not what I wanted and not what I ever thought I'd have to experience. But that is how it is. I can't change things. Had I known that I had problems years earlier, things might have been taken care of back then so a hysterectomy wouldn't have been needed. But it's too late to think about that now also. I just have to live with the results. And with no HRT, surgical menopause is awful. I get so moody. I never used to be like that.

Sex after hysterectomy

Yes I am sending a hug to you as well.(((((((((((luvs)))))))))))) I was wondering if you have ever tried any meds to deal with depression and hot flashes besides the cream?? I take wellbutrin, but I was on that before hyster. I have read here somewhere that others have been put on something and it has helped them out a whole lot. I was just wondering, cause I feel soo bad for you. Don't feel bad about not doing anything in past years, cause you cannot go back and undo. I did other things to prevent having a hyster, but all failed, so I feel good about my decision. So please don't blame yourself. I hope you begin to feel better soon

Sex after hysterectomy

Well, here's my .02.... Sex is great. We were actually released at 4 weeks which freaked me out. He said be careful. We were. I actually orgasmed in my sleep week two after TAH. I am sooooo amazed at how great sex is and I feel soooo bad when I hear others aren't doing so well. It really shows how different we all are. I am going to ask my doctor at some point whether he does something that maybe other docs don't. I know he attached my cuff to my inside wall somehow and I wonder if that has made the difference. I have never been one to not orgasm and I believe they were all "the mysterious three kinds". Now they are sooo intense and my whole body is involved. For me it's been awesome and I just wish it could be for everyone. My heart goes out to those who are suffering.
