My surgery was also in Sept. 2007. I have terrible pain and swelling in my right thumb which was never there before. It is also numb on the tip. No one seems to know why?? Also, my legs ache quite a bit. Keep me posted on the tablets. Thanks!!

Stiff Joints!

Hi Lori,

Are you on any HRT? Lack of estrogen can cause joint pain.
I'm on bio-identical estrogen and progesterone - had cancer 14 years ago and the chemo put me into sudden meno. After much trial and error, this is what's helped me. I had my ovaries out with my hysterectomy because of my age (56) and my doctor told me to just stay on what I've been taking - so far so good!

Stiff Joints!

Hi, I'm really new to this. My surgery was last November and I have been on different doses of the oral estrogen and the patch. About five weeks ago all my joints started to pop and then they started to ache. GP and OB don't know what it is. GP thinks my joints are too loose. Two weeks ago I started to have crushing chest pain, shortness of breath and fainting spells. Went to the ER and they suspected a blood clot in the lung but none was found. I continue to have symptoms of joint pain and the chest stuff. I have just contacted a pharmacy that does bio-identical custom compounding. I think its the HRT but I feel the same off of the estrogen. DR says that joint pain and swelling is more an indication of arthritis. That's not what I have but no one has an answer. Good luck to you. Your not alone.

Thanks for the info. I seem to have problems that I never had before. I am not on any hormones.

if you had your ovaries removed and are not on any hormone replacement therapy, you can have achy joints. have you talked to your dr about starting hrt?

Me too, all this joint pain is crazy!! I've been using heating pads and hot water bottles. Seems to relieve some of the pain. I've heard of bio-identical hormone replacement, where they really find out what your individual body needs. I'm going to ask my PCP about it.

Stiff Joints!

Hi there. I'm also suffering with joint pain and stiffness (popping too and all over), amongst other things. I know its due to the hyst and no hormones but my question is (to those hystersisters on hrt), "Do you ladies feel the aches and pains as well - even with the hrt?" Reading some past posts on this subject I seem to get the impression that some women on hrt still experience joint pain and stiffness.

Stiff Joints!

I have had really bad joint pain and stiffness since my SAH. I kept my ovaries but have been taking Premarin until my ovaries become "unshocked". I also have arthritis and take meds for it, but my legs have never hurt this bad before. I just thought it was because I'd not had any exercise. Now I am going to ask my GP or my bone guy. I'm sorry we are all in pain, but now I know that its not just me. Thanks sisters!
