Clamps left behind and more

I had a LAVH Dec 31st, I had the 6 week check up that all he did was stick his fingers up and said ok things are going ok.After surgery I had excruciating lower back pain that morphine wouldnt help.
Ok so now about 2 weeks ago I keeled over in pain and when moving bowels it hurt and there was blood, I called the office they tell me to drop off urine. I did, the nurse said there is blood in it. Doctor didnt do an exam no meds nothing. Now I have been having excruciating pain on my right side I call them, they tell me he is on vacation his partners said this isnt related to the hysterectomy.I went to a new dr. he ordered a catscan, I went this morning 7:30 I come home Im sleeping I get called at 2 to go back to the hospital they want an ultrasound, the nurse from my new dr.s says the cyst is over 6 cm and then asked me if I had surgery, i said yes she says ohhh no he left clamps in... I go back to get my ultrasound and the tech is saying well sometimes doctors leave clamps in to hold the ovary up???? I had a whole hysterectomy leaving one ovary. What does anyone think of this... I am in so much pain...the ovary I left in is the one that has the huge cyst

Wow, That doesn't sound right to me. Did you get a copy of your surgical report? Possibly it would say if he did indeed leave the clamp inon purpose. Let me know what you find out. Best of luck to you.

The tech was like trying to protect the dr, mind you that this new place is not affiliated at all with the usual people I go to, she said its not like the dr left instruments in u, meanwhile she doesnt read the catscan results she did the ultrasound and tells me the ultrasound doesnt show the clamps... but by my rn the catscan did... that cyst over 6.1 is killing me I never had one that big before my hysterectomy, Im not feeling so good girls

i wouldnt believe the nurse that told you there were clamps left in you. until you hear that from a dr and look at the cat scan results read by a professional radiologist, just wait and see about that. the cyst sounds like its something you need to get taken care of. i hope all goes well for you.

Lisa,
I hope this gets taken care of. I agree with Dressedupinblue. Wait till you hear from a doctor on the report. It seems rather unprofessional of the nurse to blurt out something like that and make you panic. The techs too are not supposed to comment. Usually whenever I have asked them something during the ultrasound they say its the radiologist's job. It is terrible not knowing and to to be told just enough to send you into a panic especially when you are in so much pain. Hang in there honey. I am so sorry. Please keep us posted. Concerned for you.

I don't know about the and medical teams that you have been dealing with, but my team was very up front with me and my family.

My knicked my baldder by mistake and she told my family (I was still out). Then the Urologist came and repaired that knick. Apparently when he finished, they closed me up and discovered that "they left something inside." They opened me up - took it out. Sewed and stapeled me again. Told my family and sent me to recovery.

All of this happened in a 7 hour timeframe. So I didn't see my until the next morning. Bright and EARLY - she was there and told me everything. I'm glad that all of my issues were discovered and resolved during the same operation.

I agree with the ladies that are suggesting that the surgical report will tell all and the that reviews it with you will/should tell you.

I'll be praying for you. Blessings on you ....

Oh no! Lisa, I do hope they can resolve this quickly for you. But with a large cyst on your ovary, it doesn't look good. Hopefully they can save your ovary. Praying that you find out the answers and whatever procedure has to be done would be minimal!!
