vaginal dryness--help! suggestions

I had a vaginal hyst. (kept my ovaries) in early Dec (about 3 1/2 months ago). Everything is back to normal. I know that my ovaries are working, as I still have those PMS symptoms (irratibility, sore breasts, etc) BUT not has bad--thank goodness. However, I do have vaginal dryness--BAD, all the time. We use lube during intercourse, but I also notice it ...........well all of the time. Walking is even uncomfortable as there seems to be some friction down there.

If I still have hormones, why am I so dry--and I mean "bone dry" parton the southern expression. What can I do to help this.

I will be consulting my dr. when I go back to see him in May (for my already scheduled annual--I just decided to stay on schedule). But in the mean time I would love to hear some suggestions and thoughts on why this is so.

I had a TAH/BSO on Feb 6 and was released by my DR at weeks. I had vaginal dryness and started using Replens. I've found it works very well. Each treatment is in a disposable applicator. It's not just a lubricant, it also hydrates the vaginal wall which helps restore elasticity. It's not messy, either. I use it before I go to bed at night, and I don't have any "leakage" the next day.

It's an over the counter product, you can get it at the drugstore. It should be in the same area that has the personal lubricant products. I bought mine at CVS. I tried Wal Mart. It looks like they carry it, but they were out. It can be purchased online. It comes packaged with individual applicators (mine has 8) and can be used 2 to three times a week. I also use Astroglide (just a little) during sex. It's been a winning combination for me!

It not only provides lubrication, it helps rehydrate the vaginal tissue. The package insert said it helps the body remove the dead cells from the vaginal wall, and that you may see a discharge the first few times ( a product of the dead cells). I did have the discharge, but only for a few days.

If you Google Replens, you should find a few sites that give good info.

Hi... I am going to jump in here.. You can get Astroglide at the store. It does work like a charm with regular vaginal dryness. I used it years ago after my child was born and my hormones were wacky. Hope this helps.

The Replens is for use every two or three days (more or less - the package insert gives info on use). The Astroglide (or whatever lubricant you prefer) is used whenever you have sex.
