Having trouble emptying my bladder ~ any ideas?

Hey girls I am having trouble peeing unless I sit there relax-put my hand in warm running water-relax etc. I have a bad UTI from the catheter being left in for a week. The catheter is out now but I am afraid they may put it back in if I can't empty my bladder all of the way. I am supposed to call the doctor tomorrow. Does anyone have any ideas? If I have to put that catheter back in I am going to cry.

Pam
Pam,

Green tea? Lots of it?

Othe rideas:

Cranberry juice

Cabbage (this one is just a maybe because of potential gas)

Dandelion leaves

Nettles

Fennel

Apple Cider

Maybe an antihistamine, but not sure on that one for you, either.

Maybe others have more ideas...

Good luck, hon! I so hope you don't have to put that thing back in!

Having trouble emptying my bladder ~ any ideas?

pwdhoney:

When you feel the urge to pee....go get in a warm shower, it will relax and you will be more completely vertical (well almost, depending on how sore your tummy is)...this worked for me. It's worth a shot, plus you get a warm relaxing rinse...

Best Wishes,

Having trouble emptying my bladder ~ any ideas?

Hi Ladies,
I myself had the bad problem with removing the cath and having it put back in a day later and then coming home with it and living with it for 4 days. Dr. removed it yesterday and I was really scared it would have to go back in. One advise they told me was the bladder will not pee if you bear down, the bladder needs to be RELAXED before it will work. So do whatever it takes to relax. The Dr. also prescribed some meds for the bladder to stop the spasms and it does work, they also see it OTC I belive it is call IZO, it will make you pee really yellow and orange but it does work. I am on day 2 and cath. I believe I am over that obstical. Hope this helps

Having trouble emptying my bladder ~ any ideas?

I had a bladder sling done at the same time , having a similiar issue and my Uro/Gyn last week told me for my 1 week checkup...the water trick which you are doing and also to push with my finger slightly above the pubic bone and leaning in. OFCOURSE if you have have a abdominal incision I would not suggest that.

She said the bladder receptors needs to be retrained due to being in a different position, uterus is not there pushing on it anymore and the swelling interferes with it too. She said as long as I don't have a UTI and am voiding good amounts she is happy with a risidual of 100ml. The swelling should be gone by the time 6 weeks is over.

Discuss your concerns with your doctor.

Having trouble emptying my bladder ~ any ideas?

: Hey girls,

I just slept for 4 hours straight--a miracle. When I awoke I had to pee badly--I sat up and peed a little in my pad but when I went to the bathroom it took 15 min of the tricks to get it started. I was in so much pain . I know that I have a bad UTI but I do not want them to put the **** catheter back in. MY DH does not understand and thinks that I should be running the house again. I could kick him but I think that would hurt me more than him . He want to know why I am mean and want to cry. He tells everyone that I am doing great but sometimes I want to say I feel awful

I have no energy and I sleep alot. I made him walk down the street last night with me and then I hurt. He said "I guess that was to far huh"

Thanks guys.

Pam
