Anyone still not sleeping?

Hi sisters. I am 4.5 months out and still not sleeping well. Not because I am in pain, just not sleeping well. Pre surgery I would sleep uninterupted until my alarm went off. Naturally right after surgery I could not sleep well because of pain/discomfort, but that's just not the case anymore. I just get up quite a bit in the night. It sucks. Anyone else?

Anyone still not sleeping?

Hi

Insomnia is very common thing to have after this surgery, sometimes it is related to loss of hormones.

Here is a link from our Post-op articles:

https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/article_192557.htm

I found several things to work, but don't try them all at once.

1. cup of hot Ovaltine

2. Benadryl

3. Valerian Root (herb)

4. Melatonin ( supplement)

5. Sleepy Time herbal tea

6. warm bath before bed

7. no naps

8. go to bed and get up the same time each day

9. exercise so you are tired at night

10. eat a piece of bread before bed, carbs can make you sleepy

Eventually it gets better.

Anyone still not sleeping?

Hi Sunny35! I had my surgery shortly after yours and still have difficulties sleeping. I take two tylenol PMs at bedtime and it helps me sleep. I still get up sometimes 2x per night to pee, but usually I can fall back to sleep. I do not fare too well when I don't get enough sleep. The cranky witch comes out!

Anyone still not sleeping?

OMG, I am so glad I'm not the only one! I'm only four weeks out, but I'm not sleeping for anything. I'm not in any pain anymore, I can lay on my sides with no problem, but I just can't fall asleep. My doctor gave me a sample of Lunesta and that was a disaster. I had to sleep it off, and then of course I couldn't sleep for the next two days. I'm going to ask my doctor if I can go back to work on April 7, and I'm really afraid of this sleeping problem.

Melatonin works? Does it give you weird dreams?

Anyone still not sleeping?

I am still frustrated with my sleep.....My doc did give me a month supply of ambien and I thought it was wonderful. But he won't fill it again. I really liked it and can see how it could be "addicting" I guess. My only problem is that if it made me sleep and then I felt better is it really a bad thing to need or want it? Anyway, I am now taking melatonix. It makes me drowsy and I guess it's helping but the ambien helped me relax immediatly and shut my constant thinking up. We are still finding that right mix of hormones. Last night was not a good night even with melatonix and a benedryl......

Does your doctor have any concern about you being on ambien that long? Are you concerned? Just curious cause I want to still be on it!

Anyone still not sleeping?

Last night I actually felt the good old fashioned "tired I need to sleep big yawn " tired and fell asleep at 11:30!! That was a 3 hour head start. I was so happy. Must have been all that TV boring me to sleep.
