Day 5, Nagging cough, please help!

Michelle

I was wondering how you are feeling? I sadly have to make people do that deep breathing and coughing for a living and it is so ironic that when I had my TAH it was the last thing on earth that I wanted to do but know that I needed to do it. I know that it hurts like crazy but hopefully it will help to keep you out of the hospital. Please let us know how you are doing

Erin

Day 5, Nagging cough, please help!

Hi Erin!
I'm doing better. It's become more of a dry cough now. And less severe. I've been able to walk and sleep more, so that's good. I can breathe easier and don't have to use the thing-a-ma-jig to get good deep breaths. I really wish the nurses had me actually use it more while in the hospital. I do remember one nurse telling me to use it during TV commercials, but I never watched TV. I don't think it really clicked with me what she meant. And she didn't take the time to really explain.
Thank you so much for all your help and concern!

Day 5, Nagging cough, please help!

Hi,

glad you are doing better. I was on Oxygen for a while and they told me to use the little machine, but the best thing for me were the Halls cough drops! The worked like magic....

Take care,
Sabine

Day 5, Nagging cough, please help!

Hi, I tend to get chronic bronchitis easily if I don't use my inhaler on schedule. Coughing worsens, especially when lying down.
If you have allergies, and it's upper resporitory, you may benefit from using an inhaler.
