Anyone had a good experience with a tvt sling?

I feel like I havve a full bladder in the morning and can't get enough out when I go. My OB said not to self cath due to that the fact that you can get an infection and it only irritates the bladder more. She said you can retain up to 150cc of urine. So maybe try not to do that too much.

I am starting to go a little more each day so the swelling is getting better I think. I am still not so sure about the sling yet but I am sure each day will get better.

Problems with full bladder...

I've stopped cathing so much now that it's nearly empty every time; but, there is a danger in retaining too much also so if you are in pain I would request one. They are made of silicone and very skinny and easy to clean.

I've been trying really hard to stay clean...and yes it is a little irritating to put in but it is so small that it isn't hard to get in as long as your aim is true. The most irritating aspect for me is when it is nearly done it creates a suction and adheres to the bladder opening so I'll twist a bit and remove it slowly and it isn't as bad. I don't know what would have happened that morning where my bladder was holding 600cc if I wasn't able to cath.

It's funny the differences between doctors and what they like and don't like. My doctor did prescribe a bladder type antibotic as a prophyllactic but I didn't use it because of the fear of recurring UTIs. I filled it in case I have any symptoms but I didn't want to create a "super bug" situation but taking it when there was no sign of infection.

It was weird how I could empty my bladder all of a sudden. Crossing my fingers that I'll never have to cath again.

Anyone had a good experience with a tvt sling?

Ladies,
I had a TVT done in '05 and I loved it. I wasn't able to sneeze, laugh, cough, jump, or run without peeing my pants, and the TVT healed all of that until my uterus prolapsed. My TVT was done by itself and was an outpatient procedure, so I haven't had the issues others have been having. My only advice is to stick it out and hopefully once you are healed up things will be great. And remember not to lift heavy stuff.

Good luck with your recovery.
