Hot Flashes

Hi, I just joined the forem and I'm new to all the changes occuring with my body. I had a total hysterectomy and reconstruction surgery (bladder sling and v sling) Feb. 27, this year. I'm having recurring hot flashes...very uncomfortable. I'm on low dose Elestrin. I'm still experiencing pain.....raw, burning pain, usually kicks in the latter part of the day. I'm concerned if I'm on a high enough dose of Estrogen. Also concerned about how long the pain should reasonably last. Thanks, Pansypen

You are early post-op and it takes time for our body to heal and benefit from the hrt.

I would ask my doctor about the pain you are having and also it you need an adjustment in dose with your hrt.

I would definitely call the dr. about the HRT. I was still having night sweats last week with an reoccurring afternoon headache. I called my GYN and they increased my estrogen dose. It was better the next day.

Thank you for replying. I woke up last night in a pool of water, swetting it out again. I called doc this a.m. and I was told to increase the Elestrin to two pumps per day. I have to say I did have a better day.....thanks to you encouraging me, I would have put it off and suffered until tomorrow; I see my gyn tomorrow for my 2nd post-op visit.
I am still in pain; the reconstruction plus the TH is a lot to heal from and I'm not going to hesitate to ask for more pain management. I'm so glad I found this forum! All of you are so wonderful in caring for and encouraging eachother. Wow, I just wish I had found you sooner!

Pansypen, I am so glad that you called. I hope the increase of estrogen works for you. It is funny how this experience has made me more of an advocate for myself. I use to be, "oh, I will wait because I don't want to bother anyone." Now, I politely bother them Take care and I hope your pain is better soon.
