I want a bath ( 4 weeks post op tomorrow)

Hi Everyone
I am soo sick of showers. I just want a bath. I dont douche and wont do any of the sort. Just want to get in the tub and shave my legs and soak. I want to lay still and get warm. That is all. Can I? Is it still really dangerous for me to have a bath? My hysterectomy and bladder repair were done Feb 29th. Eek! Anyone else?

Shar

OH MAN...How I too crave to a warm bath to just soak in. My stitches are still there in my groin and haven't disolved yet. Uhhhhhh.....

Call your doctor and ask.

Shar - baths are one of those things that each doctor seems to have their own opinion on. Mine told me to wait 2 weeks - never mentioned plain water vs bubble bath. 2 weeks sounded like insanity to me, so I didn't push the question since I was uncomfortable with the answer. The most conservative thing I read said to wait 48 hours after all discharge has stopped.
Give your doc a call and see what he/she says. You might want to ask about plain water vs bubbles while you're at it.
Please post back and let us know what you were told. I'm 5 wks post op and still haven't taken a bath although I LONG to. Showers are great for cleansing but nothing beats a nice hot bubble bath for soaking away worry and stress.

I dont have any discharge. Nothing. I just feel normal down below totally. Isn't it awful to not be able to soak? I mean just lay there soaking. I want to be immersed in warm refreshing water. ack! I am going to call and ask now. I will message back in a minute. Joanne you had yours a week before me and you still havent had a bath so I doubt they will say yes to me but I am asking! Nicole you wont believe the difference that 2.5 weeks will make for your recovery. It is night and day

I want a bath ( 4 weeks post op tomorrow)

I am back! Just called my doctor and his secretary said No problem. Just as long as I soak in normal warm water with no soap or bubbles. Now my next question. Why can we use soap in the shower but not in the tub? How do I wash? Just not and then soak only and then shower later? Joanne. Do you still have discharge? I dont think I do. I really feel normal down there.

I want a bath ( 4 weeks post op tomorrow)

I am scared to have sex. Outer or inner or whatever it is going to be. I am not having it until after my 6 week check up for sure. I havent ever been one to have sex or want it for that matter before my hysterectomy and bladder repair. Dr. told me that it should improve after my TAH but is he meaning hormones or something? I have never wanted it and poor DH always felt neglected. I hope I at least want it when it is time to have it. poor guy. I just never really had a high sex drive to begin with but now that the problems have been removed who knows what will happen? We will see in late April anyways.

Hey I had the bath. Just warm water and no soap and I feel great. Legs shaved and everything

My DR. said I could take a bath on my first week visit with him when took out the staples. I used a aromatherapy/epsom salt mixture in the water, very relaxing.I used soap but didn't use it close to my vagina. I even shaved my legs, but dang if I didn't miss alot of hair from my knees up LOL
I even had a "nap" with the little pillow and music playin in the background.

hi Wanda

That is amazing. I never thought that you could have a bath that first week. Totally would have hit the spot for me then. Well I had mine yesterday and I still feel relaxed since. Baths are the best. Isnt it interesting how different doctors say different times?
