Vaginal hysterectomy and itching ~ anyone else?

Hello Everyone my name is Deedee, I just joined today.
I had a vaginal hystorectomy march 4,2008 my doctor stitched me from the inside out and the wounds still haven't healed. It itches like crazy! I don't know if it's infected or not. I go to the doctors on 4/3 is there anyone who can tell if they've been through this thanks.

Deedee1974

I'm sorry you're experiencing this ~ it sounds very uncomfortable!

I didn't have a vaginal hysterectomy but there are many ladies here who have and I hope some will be along soon to share.

If you're concerned about infection, please don't hesitate to give your doctor a call as another week is a long time to wait if there is a problem. Will you let us know how you get on?

Sending all good wishes!

Vaginal hysterectomy and itching ~ anyone else?

Hi Deedee1974,I had a TVH on 20th February, and I had the itching real bad until the last few days, when it seems to have eased of (thank goodness). It was driving me crazy! The only relief I got was when I was sat in a cool bath....pure bliss lol (here in the UK they don't seem to have a problem with us ladies having baths from day 1)
The only concern I have is I haven't seen any of my stitches come out,but I believe some sisters never see them, they just go.I'm not sure if 5 weeks post-op they will have gone without me noticing,or if they could still be there?Oh well,at least the itchings gone.

i am 7+ weeks post op from a TVH, and cant say i had any itching, but some strange sensations. Have not seen any stitches either (i think) at this point. But if you are having anything weird, get on the phone with the Doc right away!! better safe than sorry

I had a TVH. I never had itching, but I did have a few weird tinglings.

I can, however speak to the stitches. They came out between 7 and 8 weeks and the incision quit being really tender around 10 weeks.

Vaginal hysterectomy and itching ~ anyone else?

I had a TVH on Feb 29th. I had unbelievable itching as well as a rash in the groin area. At first I thought my skin didn't like those icky hospital undies but as the days wore on I figured I wondered if I was alergic to the internal stitches! I took a Clariten antihistamine for about a week or so hoping to get some relief but I can't say that it helped much. Around about the time that the spotting stopped, the itching stopped too. Hopefully you will have the same experience.... I have my follow up in two weeks and I intend to ask what was up!!!
