No major symptoms

I had my total hyst on 3/20/08. Doc said will not start me on any HRT until symptoms started to see how and what to treat with. I have only had warmer body temp (not needing sweater, blanket as much, etc) Nothing really major. A few headaches that come and go. No real mood issues (went on antidepressent pre-surgery to prepare for this). I don't really know what else to expect also. I keep waiting for "that day". Ugh! Trying to stay positive though and getting out walking when I can. Feeling pretty good otherwise. Good luck to you all.

how long before hot flashes start...

I had dealt with peri-menopause for almost a year before the hyst. I did not realize at first what my body was experiencing and only after a trip to my family doctor did I figure out it was night sweats, hot flashes, etc from menopausal symptoms. We started out using the a natural estrogen treatment available OTC called Estroven (mentioned in previous post). It took approximately two months to level all of that out and then my body changed again, so I added Progesterone cream with my doctor's approval. That helped immediately. Things were level for another three months and changed again and I just had to change how many pills I was taking each day. That worked for my up until the hyst. Now I am one week post-op and have had zero menopausal symptoms so far. I am hoping the HRT patch I am using just happens to be the right one and that I lucked out the first time around. Cross your fingers for me.

Some of the things I experienced during my peri-menopause were: night sweats, hot flashes, headaches/migraines, could not fall asleep, anxiety, and depression. These are all typical, although you may not have all of them, or all at one time. Acquaint yourself with the symptoms and possible solutions, talk to your doctor, and take care of your body. Also, drink lots of water. I try to drink two 16 oz bottles a day, minimum. It helps a ton with a lot of the symptoms, as well as keeping active.

Good luck to you...and keep us posted.
