Help...someone stole my perineum!!

Hi, Girls. Sorry I haven't been on a lot today. I had heavy bleeding all day from those darned open wounds .

We're still having to chage the dressings every couple of hours and I'm still pretty much on bedrest. Everytime I move I just bleed more and more. If I don't bleed to death by Tuesday, my doc will check it out then.

A little funny......my DH was doing his nightly duty of changing the dressing. It's gross. I can feel him pulling the blood clots out from blood that is pooling down there. I know, TMI....but it's just me. So he gets his gloves on and cleans everything up real pretty then he proceeds to pack the wound with the AquaCell.

Well, he's telling me about this and telling me about that. Cause of course, he's almost a doctor at this point. I finally got up the nerve to get a mirror and see for myself....OMG.....it's worse than what I thought it was going to be. I have one gigantic open wound from my vaginal opening all the way down to the anus. Someone stole my perineum. There are two huges thick flaps of skin and muscle where my taint used to be!!!

When I go to see the doc on Tuesday.....I'm going to ask her to throw a few stitches in there. I hope she will. With all of the bleeding that I'm having from that area, I can't see why she wouldn't.

Anyway......just had to hit the top the 'ol gross meter for Friday night !

Please email me for photos. j/k, of course.

Oh my God, I can't get my husband to even look down there let alone change dressings. I know I have stitches from my vagina to my rectom. but nothing ever bled. I will be praying for you.

I've got a very deep surgical lacerations that was purposely left open to a certain extent after surgery for healing. But after surgery, there were four superficial stitches that were just pulling so hard that even the pain killers would not work. So she removed four of the stitches. She said at that point she wasn't happy with the cosmetic results. At that point I was in so much pain I said I didn't care what it looked like as long as it worked. But now....I think she's going to have to stitch me back up some. I hope she can do it locally and I don't have to go back into the OR. Anyway...I'll see her on Tuesday and find out.

Oh....mu DH and I are technically separated but he's the only one I comfortable with helping me through my recovery. He's been great. He puts his little rubber gloves on and gets all his supplies together and does his thing. LOL I'm very proud of him.

It is wonderful that he will help out even when you are seperated. I feel like I have to beg and plead just to get the dishwasher loaded. There is no way he would change dressings on my butt. Prayers are with you.

I hope that all this brings you and your DH back together. I have found that stuff like this either makes your bond incredibly close, or severs it entirely. Since he is stepping up to the plate, so to speak, I would guess that you are becoming closer. Good luck on your healing and your marriage.

I don't know which direction our marriage is going to go in. The other day he got pretty mad and flipped out and stormed out again after saying some pretty mean things. Then he was back that night to take care of me. No apologies, no comments. But maybe coming back and resuming his nursing duties was comment enought. I don't know. Just like everything else right now, it's one day at a time.

My doc wasn't lying when she said it was going to be a very difficult and long recuperation. It's been tough. I've had to accept a lot of things as being "normal" that most of the time I would think that I was dying. I'm getting better at determining whether I should rush off to the doc or just take it easy. Today has been a very good day. If tomorrow is another good day, I'll really feel like I'm moving forward.

One day at a time.

HysterHugs to all,

Denise, just think of all the advise you will be able to give some of the ladies still waiting for surgery.

I wish you only good days...none of this bad day, good day, bad day stuff!

Denise - sounds like you're really doing well at keeping everything in perspective and keeping your sense of humor. And, how great that your hubby - even though you're separated - has been such a big help. Most men wouldn't be willing to do the things he's doing. s to you!

HysterHugs to all,
Sounds like your DH needs HRT for his mood swings! (Sorry my attept at a joke). Maybe he is having a hard time seeing you in all that pain. I hope that things work out the way you want them too. I'm glad you are having a good day today you deserve it!
