severe hormonal problems?

i didn't get the est. patch the doctor ordered in the hosp and was hit with severe symptoms a few days after i got home after tah. tremors so bad they looked like convulsions and made me moan and cry. scared the heck out of my family (and me). 2 trips to thr e.r. before they admitted me for 4 days. started on premarin and also effexor. still trying to find the right balance and using xanax when symptoms come on too strong. doctor thinks that even tho i was post-menopausal, i still had a high level of estrogen prior to my hyst.
just upped my effexor and tremors are getting worse. going to see gyn monday to see if maybe a higher dose of estrogen would be more helpful.
wondering if anyone else has gone thru this very scary type of ordeal. i'm 5 wks post-op, but these symptoms are keeping me from getting my life back on track as much as i could be.
thanks in advance!

severe hormonal problems?

I didn't have this but I am also trying to find the right HRT. I have been feeling dizzy the last couple of days on the patch. I'm starting Premarin on Thurs. Hopefully this will work for me. I hope you feel better soon!

severe hormonal problems?

I'm so sorry to hear you are having these complications. I didn't start having symptoms until I returned home. My gyn had already started me on one pump of Elestril Gel per day. I later started having hot flashes and waking up with literally a layer of water on my skin. I put up with it for a few days until one of my hyst sisters encouraged me to call gyn. He increased it to 2 pumps per day, and I've been doing so much better. I will say, and maybe some of you can second me on this, I felt quite anxious while having the hot flashes. The hot flashes did make me shakey and I was afraid of going out in public for fear that I would pass out or something. That has all been alleviated. Keep your doctor's number close by and don't hesitate to call him/her until you are comfortable. Hope this helps.

severe hormonal problems?

I found my symptoms severe as well. I felt unprepared for the intensity. Nightimes were worse than daytime. Anxiety, hot flashes and chills, nausea and panic. Wasn't offered hrt till many weeks post-op. Finally settled on viville dot 1mg. (after a couple tries on other things) I have divagel .50 if I need it but I don't get much relief from that.
Sorry to say I still don't have my whole life on track. I'm not consistant enough. Although, improvement has been made and I'm thankfull for that. I keep waiting to see what to do and I'm going to give myself all the time I need. One step at a time, I guess.
It really wears you down...and your family. I don't ever want to feel that run down again.
Hopefully you are on your way to relief. This is a tough time but I think you will see alot of us know what you're going through.
Big deep breaths and chocolate!

doing better

thanks for your care and support! i'm happy to report i'm doing better. back to a low dose of effexor afterall, and don't need to up my hrt, either. my run down body just needed a little more time to respond to the meds. feeling like me again, for the most part. tho i take one day at a time.
6 week exam today, and altho i'm a little behind physically, due to little rest the first few weeks, dr. says all looks good.
so i'm learning to be patient with myself.
