Excuse me, do I have LEPROSY?

I don't think I ever got a "negative" reaction....at least I never took it that way. I do think people are afraid to ask questions. And I got to thinking the biggest thing was whether cancer was involved. I would see a look on their faces like they wanted to ask more after I said that the surgery went well. Finally, a close friend asked about cancer and from then on I would tell people the surgery went fine and that there was no cancer found. I could see "relief" in their faces. I think sometimes we see thoughts cross peoples minds without really knowing what they might be thinking.

Excuse me, do I have LEPROSY?

Tell her the "grass is greener on the other side!" I agree she is very RUDE! One of my cousins said, "Wow you didn't look sick." Sick, Sick what the heck! At Christmas time when I couldn't walk do you think I would just have a hyster for the heck of it?

Maybe she doesn't know how to handle it? Has anyone else in her family had one? Maybe she doesn't know what to say to you or she is just being a *****. Sorry I am getting mad that someone would act this way (in both of our cases) when we really need support and not be treated like we have a contagious disease!

Excuse me, do I have LEPROSY?

Okay so I went by work to pick up DH this morning (we work together) and my counterpart asked my hubby. "I thought she was suppose to be bedridden!) AGH!! He told him that I had a doctor's appointment but comeone dude it doesn't mean I have to be IN BED 24 hours a day!

Excuse me, do I have LEPROSY?

Hi ladies, I just had to comment on this one....I work with 10 men, no women, and they all knew before I left for my scheduled LAVH that I was having a hysterectomy. Most of them were genuinely concerned for me.
Most people, will react with concern if indeed they're human. So I'd have to say this person was definitely of the alien variety.

Excuse me, do I have LEPROSY?

Male coworkers and friends offered support and seem to treat it like any other major surgery, back surgery, knee surgery, etc.

Maybe she has issues of her own regarding feminity or cancer scares, or watever, but our relationship had been so good, I was so disappointed that she simply withdrew.

oh well, I will live!

Excuse me, do I have LEPROSY?

My hyster was the best thing that happened to me! Had I known then what I know now, I would have asked to keep my cervix.

I just feel I belong to a special band of girlies who belong to a special club, and I tell everyone about my hyster as much as I ask people to admire the botox in my face!

I paid a price for both things and want everyone to know about it!

Excuse me, do I have LEPROSY?

Personally, I would have asked her "what the heck was that all about????" and just let her explain why she reacted the way she did. I bet she'll say she didn't know what a hysterectomy was. Then, make sure she apologizes for being an idiot instead of the friend she's supposed to be!
