last 3 days of 11 hours sleep total for all 3 days

I am so needing to get a good nights sleep. I didn't think this was something I would have to deal with at this level. I can get by with 6 to 7 hours. But in the last 3 days I have had 11 hours of sleep total. I seem to wake up every hour. I go back to work Tuesday. Please help with what I may be able to take for some shut eye all night long. Me going out of my mine!!!!!!!

Good morning ladies,

I'm not sleeping well either. I'm up a few times during the night just to go to the bathroom. Most of the time I can fall right back to sleep. But since my surgery it's been difficult. I toss and turn a lot. It's worse when my husband can't sleep either.

Rennyri you mentioned going back to work next week. I'm going back on Monday. I know that has been weighing on my mind. I don't even want to think about how Sunday night will be! Physically I think I can handle work, but mentally I'm not prepared.

Personally, I don't want to take a sleep aid. But I've read on this site that they have helped many sisters. I would call your doctor first though.

Nice to meet you...you too Stacy

Definitely call your dr for suggestions. He may tell you to try an OTC or may give you a prescription. But most of all, he will know if it's a med you are currently taking that could be aiding in the insomnia and if a pm med will interfere with any of your current meds.

My problem is staying a sleep. I wake up 1 to 3 times each night. Mine recommended trying one of the PM meds or Benedryl 1 hour before bedtime to try to keep me sleeping.

call your doctor, keep calling,on the natural side you can try melatonin, some people use benadryl, which is what is in all the PM meds, take a warm shower, believe it or not, drink some warm milk,do not watch t.v before sleeping.lisyen to some soothing music,i actually go to another room if my husband is restless,to sleep on a couch because that sometime helps, but call your doctor !!!

I had my first night of uninterrupted sleep 2 days ago. It was great! But I've been back to getting up a few times a night. I'm not any prescription drugs (or HRTs) but my doctor said I could take OTC pain med if needed. I've used Tylenol PM a few times and it works. But, like everyone else said; check with your doctor first! Good luck and sweet dreams.

you might want to call your dr and see if he'll call you in a prescription for something like ambien or lunesta. you really need to get on a good sleep schedule since you are going back to work. good luck.

I, too, am suffering from lack of sleep. I have trouble falling to sleep
and keep waking up from hot flashes. I couldn't imagine having to
go back to work on Monday. Good luck to you, Rennyri!
I take melatonin- not really sure if it works... psychologically it makes
me feel better.
I am beginning to wonder if this TAH was worth it. I have been crying
all day and I am just exhausted. Then I feel guilty because there are
so many people on this site that are worse off than I.
I have a call in to doctor but they/he/she hasn't called back.
Well thanks for listening and reading.
Best wishes to everyone...
Waiting for ovary to go to work....lol!

i know how you feel,i have had a call into my doctor for 2 days and when i called to ask if anyone else could prescribe a sleep aid the receptionist was rude to me,i wqasn't really given any choice about havin this operation but again,i know how you feel, some days its hard to see how this could be an improvement but we are still very early in the healing process, its like bein in a tunnel and we will come out eventually,i went ahead and called my pcp today hoping to get a sleep aid from her since the obgyn isn't calling back, try that...my heart is with you, just becuase someone else may be aving a worse time doesn't make your pain any easier to bear or help you, hang in there ! mantell/tvh 2-17-8
