Premarin vs. Estradiol...Help!

Ok....I know that everyone is different in how they handle certain HRT's, but I am wondering if anyone out there is battling between these two HRT's. I started out on Premarin right after my Hyst but because of my insurance it would cost $43 per month, there's no generic for this one. If I take Estradiol, it's $5 per month. So, I switched to the Estradiol to save money. My Dr. started me out with 2mg of Estradiol, wow...the headaches were horrible and I felt lethargic and just couldn't think straight, so I went to 1mg. I still have slight headaches, but I just don't feel right, I don't feel like myself at all...no energy, dizzy, just not right! I just don't know what to do.....I want to feel good again. Any suggestions out there? I'm a single mom and I just can't afford the $43 per month for the Premarin. Does anyone know if there is a different HRT that is more comparable to the Premarin that might work for me? The Premarin seemed to work pretty good for me. My Dr. hasn't been too helpful with this.

Premarin vs. Estradiol...Help!

I started Estradiol 2mg right out of surgery. I have been lightheaded ever since and haven't been taking any pain meds. I'm also feeling a bit "loopy" and can't seem to think straight or finish a long thought. Never thought about it being hormone related so I will definitely have to watch it. Doc told me to give it 30 days to even out. Hmmm. Glad to read your post mustang1. Hang in there!!!

Premarin vs. Estradiol...Help!

I just got a note from my insurance company saying that the Premarin I'm taking will become a Tier 3 drug (I'll have to pay a much higher co-pay.) My doctor started me out on the Premarin .625. I've had really good results, and have commented how fortunate I've been to have received the right dose right away.

Estradiol has been recommended as a drug which the insurance company feels will provide the same results, and I was considering posting on this site to get other opinions on which hormone would be similar. I don't need to get crabbier than I already am!

Mustang 1, I'm sorry that you are now going through these problems. I will be very interested to know if you find anything which will work comparably to the Premarin, since yours will be my situation within the next two months!

Keep your chin up!!

Peggy
