Tired of sleeping on my back

I just want to know how long did it take to be able to sleep on yor side?

Post-op i have always slept on my side or my stomach.Last night i tried to sleep on my side and it was so uncomfortable.

Had to go back on my back. When I wake up in the morning I start of the day with the worst back pains. So how long did it take to be able to sleep on you side.

Also is there anything that I can do to make it more comfortable?

Tired of sleeping on my back

I had TVH but had abdominal surgery before it took a couple weeks and started lying on my side with pillows propped up against the tummy and back. I only did what felt comfortable.

It was a few months before I could start sleeping on my tummy again.

Tired of sleeping on my back

It was very hard for me to sleep on my back. I called the doctors office a day or two after I returned home, and was told there was no problem sleeping on my side. At the time there was a post on the subject here as well, and several sisters said they were sleeping on their sides. Good luck.

As another sister mentioned. Try using pillows to sleep on your side. I had one I kept between my legs and also one I sort of leaned on. It really helped. Good luck and your in my prayers

Tired of sleeping on my back

I propped a pillow or stuffed my blanket under my swelly belly at about the middle or end of week two and was able to sleep on my side. It sometimes took some time to get it adjusted right but it definitely helped since my back was KILLING me!! I am now able to sleep on my side without anything and have been able to be on my stomach for a bit while watching tv in my bed. I can sleep almost on my stomach by hitching up one of my legs and putting a pillow under it. So my shoulders are square with the bed but my stomach is still kind of sideways. Experiment around and you will find more comfortable positions, I promise!! Just do it slowly and be careful!!!
Good luck and hugs!

Tired of sleeping on my back

I can't sleep well on my back either. Putting a pillow under my knees and putting three pillows behind me (so I was mostly sitting up) really helped.

It was somewhere around the 3 week mark before I could sleep on my side - with a small pillow under my tummy.

I couldn't get onto my stomach until the end of week 4 but it was uncomfortable until week 5. It felt SO GOOD to sleep on my tummy again. Last night I was thinking to myself how I have absolutely NO discomfort at all when sleeping on my tummy anymore (almost at my 7 wk anniversary).

Hope this helps

Tired of sleeping on my back

Hi. I started sleeping on my side the moment I got home from the hospital. I was unable to sleep on my right side - it seemed to pull too much but I was able to sleep on my left side just fine. I had a body pillow which I snuggled up with and it worked out well. I am now 4 weeks post op and I am completely able to sleep on my belly now or on either side.

Tired of sleeping on my back

I started sleeping on my side in the hospital- nurse propped a pillow behind me for support. At home I continued, and if was laying on my back i had a pillow under my knees to ease pelvic and back strain , then propped it between my legs when I turned onto my side.
I am just now at 4 weeks finally able to STRETCH out fully and not feel terrible strain.
