Tired of sleeping on my back

I was sleeping on my side in the hospital. What I have done, is just what others have said, used many pillows and covers to support me. I am sleeping on my stomach now, I am just very careful when I role onto my stomach and I don't move much.

I also used a body pillow and found that made sleeping on my side more comfortable. Got one at Bed Bath and Beyond for $19.99.

Tired of sleeping on my back

I slept with a supportive band around my belly the first time I tried sleeping on my side. It helped a lot! I didn't last the whole night, but it was a nice change from being stuck on my back and also helped relieve the backache too! Good luck!

Tired of sleeping on my back

I had a TAH and slept on my side the 2nd night after sugery. I would have the night of surgery, but I was hooked to so much stuff.

I sleep on my back too, but I sleep with the pillows piled up on a slant. That is also how I sleep on my left side. I can't sleep on my right side, it makes my left side hurt. That is strange that sleeping on the one side, makes my other side hurt.

Tired of sleeping on my back

The nurses didn't give me a choice at the hospital - they made me sleep on my side - and switch sides several times each night. ARGH! The first night after surgery, I pulled muscles my right shoulder trying to "flip on command" and that still hurts.

Pillows behind my back and a blanket kind of folded/wadded up against my belly works for me.

Tired of sleeping on my back

Might have been psychological, but for the first few weeks after my surgery, I could not sleep on my side, as it felt as if my insides were shifting and it was too unnerving... I did not have an abdominal incision or anything, so that was not a factor... but things tightened up inside, or I got over it, and sleep returned... if you are medically required to sleep on your back, do obey...
