Swollen area above incision.

Hi Everybody! I am 2 weeks post hysterectomy and I still have a swollen bulge above my incision (and the length of my incision). Is this normal and will it go away? I turned 40 last September and starting working out about a year ago. I was trying to be in the best physical shape for ME and and this concerns me. I just want to know if anyone else has had this, do you know what it is, and does it go away on its own? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi there - apparently it will take a few months and maybe longer for the swelling to go away, and I've read that it will sometimes re-appear after exertion. Keep in mind that this was major surgery and you have to just let it take its course in healing.

Do lots of nothing for the next little while...and lay down while doing so, if you can.

Does it hurt? If your concerned you should call your Dr. I would keep an eye on it and if it gets bigger I would call my Dr to make sure everything is ok.

Ah yes - sounds like Swelly Belly ! isn't it lovely ??????
Unfortunately it takes awhile for it to calm down. I believe my swelly belly is now gone (7 weeks post op) BUT given my inactivity and inability to stay away from junk food during my recovery, its been replaced by FAT ! So now I'm on a diet ..... the joys !
If its the incision itself that swollen call the doctor. If it just looks like your stomach has form a "shelf" that's swelly belly

Ahhhhhh - thanks for the info. Okay, so at least I am not the only one and in time, it should go away. Thanks for your help!! Good luck to you - I am sure you will do great on your diet.

P.S. The best thing to do is to eat 5 small meals a day and get on the move! It will come off!!
