Pre-cancerous cells found

I have a question which I can't seem to find an answer to--I had a biopsy done in December (negative) but then a D&C in February to remove a polyp and precancerous cells were found. Gyno recommended a hystectomy because "these cells never turn good". I am scheduled for 4/18 for a total cleaning out!!
My questions is--how common is it for them to find cancer in the ovaries or uterus after only finding the precancerous cells?
I feel like I am not doing enough "getting ready"--but know that next week I will be maiking myself a total crazy lady --and getting even less sleep!
Thanks for your help!

Pre-cancerous cells found

Big hugs

I lnow how scary it can be to hear the words "pre-cancerous". I got that news too after I had a polypectomy, hysteroscopy, biopsy and D&C. My dr told me that there was no way to predict whether it would remain pre-cancerous or change. He could not even predict a time schedule for possible changes. He said it differed with each individual.

After talking with 2 other drs, I opted to have a tah/bso. My pathology all came back benign and my paps have all been normal since then too
I'll pray for the same good results for you.

Pre-cancerous cells found

I had normal paps until last July then 3 more abnormal paps. In Jan. the gyn did a colop/biopsy, it turned out I had CIN111 w/ glandular involvement. Figure it was less than a yr when I went from norm. to this. I went to a wonderful gyn/onc. Since, I had already tied tubes a cpl. yrs. back and I was tired of being poked and the biggy.. a cone would only give a 60% guarantee that all pre-cancer would be removed and a hysterectomy would give as close to 100% as possible(no cervix, no cervical cancer) I opted for hysto. Oncologist also wanted to get it done within a week of meeting with him because everything had progressed so fast. Sometimes it takes yrs for pre-cancerous cells to change but that wasn't what was looking like for me, as I said w/in a yr I went from norm to severe dysplasia. Everyone is different. I was also high risk because mother had cervical cancer.
The waiting for results were a nightmare and I could kill my reg. gyn for not giving a crap and dragging everything out. He never even explained diagnosis from biopsy clearly and I walked out thinking I was going to die if I didn't have a hysto. Thank goodness for a wonderful gyn/onc.

Good luck and don't be afraid of second opinions

Pre-cancerous cells found

In 2000, I was diagnosed with CIN III. It was almost a year after last pap was normal. At the time, the gyn I was seeing did not give a hysterectomy as an option because of my age, 28 at the time and only having 1 kid. I went for 2nd opinion, and was told the same. I had a cervical cone performed by the 2nd dr because he was able to perform the procedure 3 months sooner then the 1st.

Both drs already knew that I had other 'female' issues at the time. And during my follow up appointment, the dr said that I would have no problems with getting pregnant, but the chances of miscarriage and preterm would be extremely high for me.

Thanks for all of your input--I appreciate your time in answering. I haven't been in a hospital for 30 years--so I am not looking forward to this--especially not knowing what they might find in there! Sounds like it really varies from person to person--guess I will just have to wait and see.
