Poopless sisters - I am right there with you. Not 100% jammed but stuffed up and irregular. You must realize I was regular as the sun each morning and it irks me. Just made myself a pot of green tea after reading these posts.

Gee, you're over a month post-op and still having issues? Doesn't bode well for the rest of us. Guess, I'll be buying a truck load of Colace.

My doctor had me take Peri-Colace after 10 days of regular Colace (and suppositories/enema) didn't help. The Peri-Colace has a laxative in it also; not just stool softener. And let me say............ it worked!

Baylover,
Here is my dirty little secret though. I should not be complaining becoz I have done NOTHING to relieve my discomfort. By nothing I mean NOTHING. No medics, no prune juice - nothing that I would not ordinarily eat or drink. Call me a purist, or call me insane, but I want my body to normalize on its own. I am afraid if I start taking something regularly my body will get used to it. I want my old mule like constitution back. Mind you I am normalizing slowly - I now poop every other day. I know I will be back on track, eventually. I took only one stool softener after surgery, that was all. I am not doing too bad...

Ponchito

That is good that you are doing it on your own. I haven't taken any stool softners, but I did eat a couple of prunes after the second time going, but I know my doc said lots of water and make sure we are moving, not just laying

Yeah...I ended up using a suppository. It worked in 5 mins. Everything fine since then =)
Went to the DR today, found out I have pnemonia.
Got the staples out. That feels weird =|
Hope all you ladies are doing better!!

Try drinking a glass of Metamucil each night before bed. It really worked for me I was really uncomfortable and the metamucil softened it and pushed it through. I hope this info helps.

I didn't have any issues with not having BM's. On the contrary, I'm experiencing NO problems whatsoever. What I was experiencing was gas pains! I think the bowel prep, and then my unexpected lengthy surgery (6 hours under anesthesia--also not good for the bowels) brought it on. Doc gave me meds for IBS to help spasms. After four days, gave up with that because it wasn't working. I then had my fiance take me to a local vitamin/health store and bought a total probiotic. And bingo, within 24 hours the pain began to lessen. You know, we wash out all the friendly bacteria with a bowel prep. It needs to be replaced. Try a complete (acidophilis/bifidus types) probiotic from your local health/vitamin store.

Something to remember is with your pre-op diet, then the day of surgery, and even the day AFTER on just fluids and really soft stuff...there ain't gonna be much for your system to push out!

I read in my post-op stuff (here, I think - it's a blur) that I should "go" within 7 days. Day 5 it was.

I was at my mom's recuperating (God Bless Moms who CARE! ), and had bran flakes in the morning...smallish meals, LOTS of popsicles.

That Brown Cow recipe in here sounds good...

Prayed for poop.

Today is one week from my total abd. hysterectomy. Due to some complications I did not come home until last Friday. I did not poop until yesterday! I know how you feel.
