Steri-strips and Glue

I had an abodiminal hysterectomy on March 27. I've had lots of improvement, but one week ago, my staples were removed, and steri-strips were glued over my incision. Five days later, I could see a rash around my incision. It had been itchy since the stri-strips were applied. I was told that I am allergic to the glue. (Mastisol) The strips had to be removed immediately. However, there is no way to remove the glue. It has to wear off. I also went to a dermatolgist. I'm applying the corticosteroid cream, but it is not getting better. The problem seems to be that the glue that is still on my skin. Has anyone else had this reaction? Any safe ideas about removing the glue? I'm taking more showers.
Thank you!

Steri-strips and Glue

My incision was glued as well. When I asked my doctor about the sticky stuff from the dressing he said to use ACETONE FREE nail polish remover right before I get in the shower. I
I'm still trying to get the rest of the sticky off- don't want to rub too hard.

At least the bruising is going away.

I just wanted to say good luck to you ladies in getting the glue/adhesive off. I would much rather have that issue than the one I'm having to deal with. I am extremely sensitive to ALL adhesives and I've had a horrible time since I ended up with an infection in my incision and have to keep it bandaged. Every time we remove the bandage to clean it the tape removes skin as well and leaves huge red welts that burn and itch horribly. And sadly, that's using paper tape which is a lot easier on the skin. Heck, I can't even use just regular band-aids without that happening.

Anyway, I hope you ladies have better luck than I have had.
