Post-Op Day 11 - Doctor Visit - Not Good

Warning - this is long.

First, thanks to everyone in my Post-Op family that strongly encouraged me to get to the Dr. regarding some strange pain I have been having.

I did go today and really thought he would tell me I was just healing. Nope. He told me that I have blood and protein in my urine - not good at all - and that I am very dehydrated. We told him that I inhale water all day and until bed time and even wake up at night and need water. So we do not know the reason for the urine problems.

I was already on an antibiotic for a lung infection but he wanted to add another one for 5 days to see if that helps. He wanted to run a test at the hospital to check all my plumbing but I allergic to idoine so have to be premedicated for the tests. One of the premedications is prednisone and I can't take it becuase I have Avascular Necrosis (caused by prior prednisone reactions.)

So we agreed that we are going to try a home test tonight with some medication. If the results of the test are bad then we move to the next step. If the results are good then we retest the urine this Friday or earlier if the pain gets worse. At that test we hope the urine is much better or else..who knows what.

He says it could be a fistula (whatever that is), could be a kidney or bladder infection or I could be peeing somewhere else in the body other than my bladder because my bladder got knicked. He said he was really hurrying becuase I was throwing up so violently in the operating room.

So I said, "Huh, what, what was all that." My poor DH kept saying "Oh man, oh man, oh man." Poor guy.

So, stay tuned. I am on some pain pills but even that isn't helping. Now I know why the pain when sitting was getting worse each passing hour.

The moral of all this - if you think something is wrong then it probably is wrong. I should have called days ago.

Thanks to my sisters for making me go. I owe you big time.

Update to follow.

4hisglory,

I had a spinal block for my TVH/BSO. As soon as Dr. A started that spinal block I started throwing up violently all over the Operating Room. That went on for the entire procedure. At my GYN's today they were still talking about it. They said they have never ever seen a patient do that.

Thanks all for the support. It means a lot.
