Anyone up and exercising yet?

I'm not hard core but I do love to run (at a very slow speed!). When I started back at about 5 weeks I went up to our high school track and ran the straights and walked the curves. I started out with a mile and each time added a lap. Now at about 10 weeks I am back to being able to run 3 plus miles. I ALSO LIFT LIGHT WEIGHTS AND JUST SLOWLY WORKED my way into it. My daughter is a physical therapy tech and she is helping me with ab workouts and again we are going slowly. I hope this helps you. I am sure there are others out there that can also offer ideas. Good luck and happy running.....real soon.

Anyone up and exercising yet?

Hi Ladies, I just got the okay to get back to exercising yesterday at my 7 week post op appt. She had told me no exercise except walking until then. I was in too much pain to do anything but walk anyway. Today I was on the glider for about 15 minutes after I walked around the block. I did some leg lifts also. This past few days I have been starting to gain weight so I am glad I can exercise again.

Anyone up and exercising yet?

Hi! I am 4 weeks out tomorrow! WOOO HOOO!!! My Dr. released me to walk on my elliptical right away. She also encouraged me to go for walks. Right now I am sticking really close to my 10,000 steps a day that I am supposed to be doing. I cannot go as fast as I used to, though.

I did ask at my 2 week post-op about doing abdominal exercises or pilates. I thought she was going to string me up! I was told very clearly that there was to be no abdominal exercising at all until she checks me again at 6 weeks because of the possibility of prolapse.

I was, however, released to have outercourse, and was encouraged to do Kegels often, and continue walking.

Anyone up and exercising yet?

Hi girls: Walking on treadmill 30 minutes at 2.5. Will go up tonight. Started doing leg lifts and slow sit ups. Doc said I was all clear to do what I do without getting really tired.

Would love some good training advice too.

Anyone up and exercising yet?

I think alot of it also depends on how much one exercised before surgery. I wasn't real active as I was always tired because of my low blood count. I know it's gonna take me months to get to where I can work out at the gym at the level I'd like. Thankfully, my DH was a jock in high school and knows his way around the gym and takes me step by step.
