Telescoping Anal Sphincter Muscle?

Quite awhile back, I read someone post they found out, after their surgery, their anal sphincter muscle was telescoping into their anal canal, and their colorectal surgeon tacked it back in place.

Does anyone remember that post?

I've been struggling with constipation since my A & P repair in Oct. of '06.

I had a proctography that showed I had no urge to defecate, and everything just falls to the bottom. Well, the Billing Dept. of University of Chicago is still fighting my insurance 'allowed' amount, on a $719.00 office call. (No, that's not a misprint)

Anyway, a Collection Agency actually is investigating it because they believe it is an over charge. (This is the first time in my life I've ever dealt with a Collection Agency, and as it turns out, they are being pretty helpful.)

In the meantime, I haven't gone back, and my D.O. started me on a bowel program. Part of the program and I apologize for TMI, requires digital stimulation of the anal sphincter muscle if you have no movement after the Bisacodyl suppository. This morning, I discovered that the muscle is telescoping down into my anal canal.

If anyone remembers that post, would you please tell me how they diagnosed the problem?

Thank you in advance.

Telescoping Anal Sphincter Muscle?

Hi, Kim.

No, but thanks for looking. It was a post where the colorectal surgeon said he sees the anal sphincter drop after hysterectomies and A & P repairs, and the poster said he sewed her sphincter muscle back in place.

I don't have any tears, and I have no bowel function at all, no leaking, just constipation, and I cannot empty my bowel, even when I use laxatives.

My D.O. started me on a Bowel Program this week, 2 Dulcolax tablets before bed, and a Dulcolax Suppository in the morning, twice a week, and this morning, I noticed the anal sphincter muscle telescopes down into the anal canal.

I was hoping to bring him so info to my next appt. so he might know where to send me.
