Runners - When did you resume running?

Good evening sisters...I just wanted to get some feedback from the runners out there on when you started to run again post-surgery?

My surgery was two months ago today and while I'm back at the gym not doing everything just yet as far as weights go, but have spent a lot of time doing cardio..I'm curious about the running. I haven't attempted it yet because I'm just not sure.

So, if you run, can you tell me how soon after your clearance to exercise you started? How did it go..?

I don't know what to expect.

Runners - When did you resume running?

I started running very slowly at 5 weeks, I went up to the local high school track and ran the straights and walked the curves for 3 miles. I did this for about 2 weeks, several times a week. Then I ran on the track and now I am out on the road after 12 weeks. When I first started back I had some bleeding which turned out to be granulation. But now I am fine and feel normal. I've felt normal since about 8 weeks out. I am not a big runner like many of the other ladies on this site so hopefully they will come along and share their stories with us. Good luck and happy running. The weather is turning nice for this.

Runners - When did you resume running?

I started running at 6 weeks, the day after my doctor cleared me, which was last week. I'd been walking three miles during my recovery, so my first day of running I walked a mile, ran a mile, then walked the last mile. Today I reversed that formula. I'm hoping to be up to a three-mile run in another week, but I'm taking it slow. It hasn't hurt, but I feel very weary when I'm done.

Good luck,

MMM

Runners - When did you resume running?

I started running slowly - like the above poster - walk, run at 7 weeks. I am now 10 weeks and I am running 2 miles Next week I will do 2 1/2 nd the following 3. I am doing really well - no pain, but I am much slower than I was. I'm sure speed will start to return the longer I am at it.

Have fun!!! I am really enjoying being back at it.
