Anyone else put on weight?

Hi everyone. Just wondered if anyone else has put on a bit of weight since their op? It's getting me down just now as i've never been so heavy in my life. I'm usually a very active person who does a lot of martial art. Since my op 6 weeks ago i've put on about 10lbs!!! Hopefully it'll come off when i get back to work and training. Anyone else had the same experience.

8 lbs!!

Weighed myself before leaving for the hospital Friday morning, then again this morning after having everythng removed--and weigh 8 lbs more! Just what I don't need!! Know that it is fluids and BM needed, but 8 lbs?!?!?!?! And haven't even eaten much....where did it come from! They must have left some heavy surgical tools in there! hahaha
Good luck!

Anyone else put on weight?

Have also gained about 10 pds. Have also been not very careful about what I eat. Have been working out a little bit but I think I really need to get a good food plan going - is your additional weight all round the middle part of the body? Mariah

Well particularly since you are so use to being active, I'm sure once you resume your normal level of activity the weight will drop off. I think we just have to accept that it will be slower and take time. Which, of course, i don't like, I want everything to be fine immediately!

Anyone else put on weight?

I've gained a few pounds over the past three weeks as well. I figured I'd lose at least a pound of uterus and fibroids right away, but maybe we are retaining extra fluids (gotta love blaming fluid retention! Lol).
Having surgery sure didn't kill my appetite - I've never been so ravenously hungry (and done so VERY little activity) in my life. What gives?
Oh well - I guess we should cut ourselves a little slack, given what our bodies have been through.
Hugs,

Anyone else put on weight?

My hysto was almost 4 weeks ago and I put on 4 pounds since then. I've been as active as I could but hope to get my green light from the dr on Tuesday to go back to the gym so I can take off those extra pounds I took off before surgery. It's frustrating for me because I actually don't eat too much and move around a lot but have those bad cravings where I would like to empty the fridge and freezer. Talking about food in the fridge............got to go.....

Anyone else put on weight?

I lost 10 lbs when I came home from the hospital. But 5 weeks later I've gained it ALL back! I craved all the junk food that I never eat like, brownies, cakes and other sweets! My hormones were so out of wack I had to have them and now I'm paying the price! I can't wait to have my exercising restriction lifted so I can work out too! Of course I don't know where I'll get then energy from I get tired just going to the grocery store! Ohh well some day I'll lose it again.

Anyone else put on weight?

I seemed to gain about a pound a week. Was cleared to exercise at week 5 so I am back into my routine. however, I am still carrying alot of swellying which is causing me to not fit in my normal clothes. I am nearly 6 weeks post op. I was told it would take time to get back to normal - up to 6 months. I too lost a lot of weight a year before the surgery. Dropped 40 pounds and was doing very well at continuing to loose but the lack of exercise and the plain eating out of boredom didn't help either. It seems it is normal to gain some weight after this surgery. It will come off. I am happy to report that after exercising this week I was able to maintain my weight from last week so it didn't go up that additional pound. We'll see how things go next week after a week of exercise and eating properly.
