Night sweats and mood swings

Hey Ladies,
Quick question??? I have been on the Vivelle dot 0.05 since my surgery on the April 8th. At first I felt pretty good. Then I started sweating at night. I noticed my moods were a bit on edge. I read all the threads here and moved my patch yesterday to the back of my hip. I feel better mood wise since yesterday, but I am still having night sweats. Sometimes in the day I am hot and then cold, but no full fledge hot flashes. My question is I am suppose to call my doctor on Wednesday to let him know how I am doing on the patch. The nurse mention increasing the patch dosage. Would this help with the night sweats? I forgot to mention that I sometime feel my heart flutter. Does this mean I need an increase in the patch? Thanks for any help! Paula

Night sweats and mood swings

You are very early in your recovery and your symptoms could be all over the place for a while. It takes time for the body to adjust to the change in hormones. And the product you're using may not be the best one for you. There are a lot of options. It might be a good idea to keep a journal of your symptoms so you have some information to give your doctor. Just remember, every time you add a hormone, take one away, increase or decrease, etc., there will be some symptoms that you need to give some time to settle down.

Night sweats (and hot flashes in general) are caused by a change in hormone levels. You may experience these for a while as your body is depleting it's source of stored estrogen.

If you don't have your ovaries, then 0.05 is a fairly low level, and you may do better with a little higher dose. And Bevanne is right, after any dose change, it takes about 6 weeks for your body to feel the full affect of it. However, with a dose increase, I always see an immediate improvement with the hot flashes

s and Best Wishes,
Kay

Already keeping a journal. Started that in the hospital. The doctor had told me 2 weeks, we should know if that dose was going to work or not. When I went into surgery my estrogen level was 794 so I figure some of what I am feeling is just my estrogen trying to get balanced. The heart palpitations were a little much yesterday. Thanks for the advice. Blessings!
