Physically and mentally exhausted??

I am 3 weeks post of for a TAH. I had hemorraging at 1 week post op and had to back into surgery for more stitches. My problem is my dr told me that I can go to work, light duty, next week. I can't even go to my mailbox without hurting and then becoming exhausted. How am I supposed to work if I get so exhausted that I don't want to move.??? I am still having a lot of abdominal pain also. Is there anything that I can do to help give me more energy??

Physically and mentally exhausted??

Hi Jen. Did you tell your Dr you didn't feel up to it yet? It doesn't sound like you are anywhere near ready for week and the norm is 6 weeks off work. Can you ring him and tell him how you are going and ask for more time off? I am at 4 weeks now and I too couldn't contemplate going back to work yet. All the best.

Cheers

Alison

physically and mentally exhausted???

Next week will be 4 weeks. That is WAY TOO EARLY to go back to work!!! Especially after the complications you have had. I'm not sure what to tell you. All I can think is find another doctor and/or talk with your medical doctor. If your gyncologist is telling you that you can work that early, I don't think that person is helping you. Perhaps your general/medical/family doctor can help. I am hoping the other ladies will give you more help. In the meantime, try to rest and take good care of yourself!

Physically and mentally exhausted??

Jen,

1 wk after mine I couldn't get off the couch let alone try to work. I sleep so much for the first 2 wks I couldn't keep my eyes open. Your just going to wear yourself down before your body is ready for it. I went back after my 4wk and that was still to early being that we was busy and I had to stand alot. Being you had to go back in for your stitches I say you need the time to rest. I'm no Doctor but, being in my 4th month post-op I still get whipped when I been doing to much. If your gyno is telling you to work and your body is telling you different I would listen to your body. I'm going today to my regular Doc, mind you I like my gyno but, everytime I try to talk to him about hormones he just says I need a physcitrist and that really burns my tush. Make me feel like he's calling me crazy. I personally wished we had a woman Gyno in our town, cause male gyno's the man in them comes out way to much. Hope you feel better soon. Just take the time your body is telling you need. Get some rest.

Could it be your iron level?

When mine is low, I feel totally wiped out. I've been on prescription iron tablets since my LAVH, 6 weeks ago! You are only 3 weeks out, your body going to be tired just from that. Then a week of hemorraging?........ Just an idea to talk to your doctor about. And good luck to you, hope you feel better soon!

I am at 3 weeks today and I am very much the same way. EXHAUSTED! My house is a mess, just because I can't seem to finish or do much I get so tired.

Physically and mentally exhausted??

In the same boat here. I took a four hour nap today. Definitely not my speed to take naps.

As my doc said, you need to listen to your body. Keep talking to your doc.

Physically and mentally exhausted??

Hey, 3 weeks, you need to rest, rest, rest! I did not go back to work until 7 weeks post-op! And my gyn would have prefered I waited one more week...
These procedures are mentally and physically exhausting and if there are complications, well, that just adds on! Sometimes I do wonder what some of these doctors are taught; seems some missed Bed-side Manners 101 or Basic Human Compassion 101!!
Hang in there! Be good to yourself! The work place will survive without you. Like I said, I was out from work 7 weeks and all my work was right where I left it. ugh..... I love you all!

Physically and mentally exhausted??

i am almost 3months out, and still have no motivation. I keep telling myself its from lazing around for 6 weeks, and now i am sooooo behind on housework that i could scream!! Would it be bad to hire a cleaner for a one time thing?? i have all this stuff i want to do and i just have no energy to do it. I know i need to get weight off to, and that might be part of it, but AHHHHH!
