Disney Vacation OK 7 Months Out?

Hi, everyone.
We are planning a vacation to Disney World in late October. It will wear out a marathon runner - doing all the parks, but is my favorite place on earth.
I didn't think twice about it, until I remembered that many women here have said they were still in some amount of pain or exhaustion many months out.
I know there is no "crystal ball", but for those of you who are several months out from surgery (and have done a Disney vacation before, which is great yet exhausting)....do you think its doable 7 months energy-pain wise? I REALLY would like to go.

Disney Vacation OK 7 Months Out?

I went on a vacation when I was 6 months post-op ( tah/bso ). It wasn't Disney but did involve a lot of walking and some climbing ( ). I did get tired quicker than normal but really enjoyed the vacation. I would stop and rest when I got tired or started feeling a bit sore. If you can plan to do that too, you should be able to go and enjoy your vacation - barring any unseen complications before then.

If you're really unsure, you could ask your dr for advice

Best wishes, I hope that you get to have your vacation and have a great time

Disney Vacation OK 7 Months Out?

I am going to be asking my dr at 6 weeks post op about rides at Disneyland for 2 months post op. But I am thinking a wheel chair may be a good idea. We have planned this vacation since January, no turning back now!

Everyone is different, true. For the most part....7 mo. is quite some time.

I'm just about 4 mo. and I'm doing everything normally now, but with caution. The hot flashes slow me down a bit, other than that OK. Landscaping and moving concrete blocks yesterday, along with mowing 2 lawns. I'm not testing myself, just excercising caution and lifting with legs.

A Disney trip would not be a problem for me, their are plenty of benches (as you well know) when you need to take a break.

Enjoy your trip in Oct.

Yay! A Hystersisters Disney trip -
Seriously, THANK YOU for all of your replies. Having all of this spare time recovering has put me in serious Disney World Planning Mode (its a great project, lol). Hope I'm up to it.
BTW, Cathy - my husband and I married in October (poor guy....talk about sticking with me through "sickness and health"! He has been my rock during preop and postop from this surgery) and we honeymooned in Aruba.
It was LOVELY! Enjoy!
Hugs all the way around,

honestly, you should be okay. like someone mentioned, ask for a chair if in doubt. I would start getting ready for it now by walking and doing some strength training, if your doctor has cleared you for that. then your body will be ready to go and your stamina won't let you down! enjoy!

I just laughed when I saw your post. We're going to disney world for a week when I am 9 weeks post op. Planned the vacation waaaayyy before the surgery and just didn't have the heart to disappoint the kids. So off we go in two weeks with me still having to straight cath myself every few hours (still no bladder function 7 weeks post-op). Where there's a will there's a way!

Happy vacation planning!
