Questions about CT scan prep

Thank you so much for the prayer. I think know one understands what we are going through except "us". My husband has been unbelievable and sooooo supportive but I still hate to dump on him.
jb - GET THE COLONOSCOPY. All of my other tests came back fine. The Dr. that did my colonoscopy said that when he hit the part of my colon that was infected I almost jumped off of the table. I don't remember any of it. The worse part was drinking the prep. But you can do it. Had it not been for the colonscopy I would still be wondering what is wrong.
The pain is in my lower pelvic. Stronger on my left side than my right. I have much more gas than I have ever had in my life. I don't have gas pains but lots of gas (I have teenage boys that think it's the funniest thing! Not so funny for Mom!) According to all of the books I should have a fever, body chills, and constipation or diarehha (?). I have none of that. My bowels are just fine (TMI) no chills or fever. The doctors are stumped.

I think you are right. When I go to see my surgeon on 5/6 for the results of the cat scan if the CT scan shows nothing I will relinquish and have the colonoscopy. Thanks for your advice.
How are you handling your family with all you are going through? My husband is awesome but I have 3 teenagers and I am missing so much with them right now. At this moment I feel brave enough to do anything to get my life back.

Questions about CT scan prep

I have had several CT scans prior and after my hyst. At one hospital I had to drink the berry berium. At the hospital of my surgery, it was a clear awful liquid that was flavored w/ grape, sugar free Koolaid. Still awful! I thought the bowel prep tasted better...but I don't like fruit flavored drinks. Crazy thing...one hospital said not to drink through a straw and the other one gave me a straw! The only thing to really be prepared for is the IV...ick! And you will need to use a bathroom...got me going!

A few weeks after the hysterectomy, I was having lower back pain and pain on my the right side of my pelvic area. Found out that I had a fluid pocket that needed to be drained.

And for each scan you had to drink the prep?

Questions about CT scan prep

Ok - now I am worried that I did not get the correct prep for my CAT scan in a few hours - as it did not taste bad at all.

It is called Redi-Cat 2 Berry Smoothie and is fairly thin, white liquid that has only a faint taste - it was hard to pin down the taste but I decided it reminded me of the old candy necklaces - like they crushed just a few of these and put it in a slightly thick liquid (and I mean slightly).

I drank it cold with a straw but still - this was not a bad experience.

Does this sound like the right stuff????

That's how I remember it. Mine was strawberry flavored. It wasn't something I would want to drink for pleasure, but it wasn't bad at all.

Questions about CT scan prep

I just returned from my CT scan and that is exactly what I had to drink. Not bad at all. I have the results of my abdomen ultrasound and it was normal. I will go tomorrow evening and pick up the results from my ct scan this morning. I decided not to wait until I see Doc on 5/6. That is too long to wonder....Hope all goes well with your scan.

jb,
How do you go about getting your results? Do you just ask for them? Who do you ask? I've never been sick a day in my life and now the bottom is falling out. I've not been thrilled with any of the Drs. I've seen so far. I'd like to keep a folder on "me" so that I can take it with me when I find the right DR.

Yes - Jax I did and sorry to say it was running through me before I even got to the test.

Good Luck,
