Day 5 post op....Numb lower lip

I came out of surgery Thursday at 3pm with a
numb lower lip and I hoped it would be back
to feeling normal by the next day. Here is it
Monday night (day 5) and still no feeling.

Has anyone else experienced this?

not me personally. It is still early in your recovery, but I would recommend speaking with your doctor. Please keep us updated!

Day 5 post op....Numb lower lip

Hi, I came out of surgery with a numb nose!! It seemed to come and go for the first week or so and felt really wierd.I put it down to either the mask they had on me for the anaesthetic that had maybe pressed too hard on something or the pain meds.It has now gone completely, the only thing in your case I can think of is that maybe they caught a nerve or something in your lip with the tubes that you have inserted for the op.a dentist I worked for once caught a nerve whilst giving me an inj. and my lower lip was numb for weeks afterwards, did finally go though. If it carries on for much longer I would mention it to your DR.Best wishes.

could be that you are allergic to some of the meds. I would call the Doc and let them know.

have a GREAT day!

I had the exact same experience. It lasted about 10 days. The doc told me it was from being intubated (sp?). My lip was also really chewed up from the tube. Once the numbness wore off, it was tingly for another couple days. I would definitely let your doc know. Hang in there!!

hi there , had a sim. exp. w/my upper lip in the corner. i think it was from the way they taped the intebate tube during surgery so we can breath. if that's what it was, the feeling w/rtn. took me about 1 week. good luck., mo
