Embarrassing questions regarding outercourse sex

I can't believe that I'm asking this, but I need to know! I had a LAVH/BSO on April 1, so I'm 4 weeks out from my surgery. I've been steadily doing better, and my sex drive is going strong. I need to know whether outercouse and orgasm are safe at 4 weeks? Sorry if that's TMI.

Embarrassing questions regarding outercourse sex

We have been doing the "making out like teenagers" thing for about 2 weeks now. I never thought to ask if it was safe. I was just thrilled to learn everything still works. I can honestly say I have held to the Dr.s orders... I have not lifted over 10 lbs and I am not bending over, and nothing "in" there for 6 weeks. I would hope if he meant that I couldn't "O" then he would have mentioned it. I guess if I have "messed something up" I will find out Thurs.

Embarrassing questions regarding outercourse sex

I had TAH on 4/3/08 & at 2wk visit asked the Dr. if it's ok to orgasm cause my sex drive was out of control, he that's fine just nothing in the vagina for 6wks, (I had 3 after that just the first was a little weird cause I was a little scared) I am now almost 4wks post-op & the libido has crashed and burned. I hope it comes back cause I havn't felt like that in years.

It's perfectly normal (and common) to wonder if any type of sexual activity is okay after surgery before the doctor gives the release for intercourse.

That answer can come only from your own doctor. It may be safe...but that's not something we can say for certain. Only your doctor can tell you if it's okay for you at this point in your recovery as your doctor is the person who knows exactly the type of surgery you have had, what additional repair work was done (if any) and how well you have healed so far.

Doctors hear the question all the time so there's no need to be embarrassed. It's much better to be safe and ask than to try something and risk setting back your recovery. Some doctors are more strict with post-op orders than other--mine told me complete pelvic rest for six weeks minimum and that was without having additional repairs at the time of my surgery.

Here are some good links to information on the subject:

Best wishes as your recovery continues!

I think would be best if you talked to your dr. My Dr. told me the same the thing April Dawn's complete pelvic rest for 6 -weeks, which went to 9.

I was released at 4-1/2 wks for everything by my Dr. including sex. It all still works. If you're concerned call and ask.
