Anyone had a TAH for Fibroids/Adeno

Hi
I had a TAH vertical cut ( for suspected fibroids which was actually Adenomyosis I found out after surgery). I struggled with heavy, really heavy flow and pain for years.
I think I am recovering well, and see doctor for 6 week catchup next week.
I now do not take any pain killers at all, but feel very tired. I am due to go back to work part time in two weeks time, but do not feel ready.
Just interested in finding how others with this procedure
are recovering?

Anyone had a TAH for Fibroids/Adeno

Hi Charl 16,
Yep! I had the surgery for the fibroids. I don't know what the Adenomyosis is. I had very enlarged fibriods and as a result so was my uterus. I guess it was really a crowded region in there. Might be why afterwards it felt like "stuff" that remained was flopping around. hehehehehe....
Take as much time off work as you can and as you can bear to...depending on your kind of work, the incision may get uncomfortable. I have a horizontal bikini cut; I sit at a desk all day. Even now, the incision gets irritated because of the sitting position.

Anyone had a TAH for Fibroids/Adeno

Hi Charl16,
I had a TAH vertical incision on 3/28/08 and prior to that I had two c-sections that were bikini cuts. Mine were due to only one extremely large fibroid that grew for years and weighed 3.5lbs and was the size of a soccer ball. I had extremely painful periods, clots the size of a fist. I am not taking any pain meds at this point but I do get a twinged here and there but nothing requiring meds. My energy level depends on how I feel, some mornings I wake up ready to go and by mid day I am exhausted! and some mornings I wake up exhausted like I never been to sleep. I've healed almost to the point of fine except where the two incisions meet, it came open and refuses to close even with silver nitrate treatments! So now I am trying an old trick, I am laying with a fan blowing on the incision for most of the days and nights. I started this only yesterday and its drying it up for the most part. I've been to the doctor's office every two weeks since my hospital discharge and my 6wk check up is in two weeks. I basically have a sit down job but my boss gave me up til 12 weeks but I really want to go back now but doctor won't release me until the wound heals. Hopefully when I go back in two weeks I can get my clearance then. My family brought me a juicer and I've been juicing for the past week and I can tell the difference in how I feel.

I had a lapro for adenomyosis. Recovering very well, back to work and even doing laundry, etc.

One pleasant surprise for me was that the lower back pain I have had for years is G-O-N-E.

Hope your recovery goes smoothly!

Anyone had a TAH for Fibroids/Adeno

I had TAH on 3/11 to remove adenomyosis. During surgery DR removed ovary and tube that were attached to the uterus. The incision and cuff are healing fine. I am 7 wks right now and not doing well. But I have a new cyst that is growing on the remaining ovary that is causing pain.

TAH for Adenomyosis

Hello....

I had a TAH on 4/23/08 with a horizontal cut. They went in for fibroids, but the final diagnosis was Adenomyosis. A total surprise for me, but made sense with the painful periods and passing huge clots.

Only finished 1 week, 1 day into post-op struggling to kept from being constipated and to keep the burning sensations at bay.

Getting lots of beauty sleep and watching way too much HGTV!

^^^ relax as much as you can and try not to overdo things. Pain can be real tough at times. Also just try to enjoy the time that you have off and let your body heal. Drink plenty of water and eats lots of fruit; that helped me with the constipation.

Anyone had a TAH for Fibroids/Adeno

I am almost 4 wks out from a TAH bikini cut for enlarging fibroids and adenomyosis. Uterus had grown into bladder, ended up needing bladder repair and came home with a catheter (13days). Had a myomectomy in '98 and csect "01 and '03..lots of scar tissue.
I am doing great, just occasional pain , still very tired toward the end of the day. All and all just looking forward to better days!
