Work Keeps Calling

I think I could have returned after 2 weeks if it weren't for the anxiety. Otherwise I felt pretty good.

Work Keeps Calling

You know what is causing the anxiety? People telling me that I am returning to work too early. I keep looking for validation that it is ok for me to return to work. I LOVE my job and miss it very much. It is a very supportive environment. But, I also don't want to set my recovery back. I am going crazy sitting at home, not using my brain! I have become a slug! lol

Work Keeps Calling

I deal with anxiety and depression anyway, but this anxiety is mainly over work. I am laying in bed right now with dry heaves that come and go. My boss just tried to call but I didn't answer.

Good for you! My hormones are still way out of whack. I see my doc tomorrow and I am hoping we can resolve some of this. I think this is what some of my PO depression is due to.

Of course, the anxiety isn't made better by the fact that I have a 10, 12, and 14 yr. old.

Work Keeps Calling

Ok girls, just be careful. If you had an abdominal hysterectomy, it can take up to a year to fully heal. Be careful that you don't get a hernia, that is an additional six week recovery. My job requires some lifting, so my Dr. said I couldn't return before the full six weeks. My neice just had hernia surgery six months after her hysterecomy. She is not a happy camper.

Work Keeps Calling

Dkotagrl,

I was released without any restrictions 2 weeks after surgery and started back to work the next day. However, I did half days for a couple of weeks and then 6 hour days. Today was my first full day and I am 7 weeks out from surgery. Ideally, I would have stretched the half days a little longer . . . tonight the swelly belly is BIG!

Work Keeps Calling

Hello,
I returned to work on Wednesday and have put in two 8 hour days now. I am sore and tired. My belly is pretty big at the end of the day. I sit most of the day -and can walk when I need to. I also have a place to nap over lunch. So that helps. But, I am looking forward to the weekend and resting again.
I am following the rules and being a good girl. My co-workers are watching me closely! It has only been 17 days since surgery. I have a long way to go before my energy returns.

Work Keeps Calling

I can certainly relate to that. Even though I feel that I may be ready to go back to work, I know that I will need to take things slowly. I have received calls from work. The most amazing one was last week. One of the people that I work very close with and provide back-up for when she is bombarded with too many clients, called me to inquire about my doctor possibly letting me come back to work two weeks earlier because she had medical appointments that she needed to go to. She felt that my being back would lessen the amount of work that may or may not become backed-up due to her having two doctor's appointments that would only keep her away from work for 2 hours on 2 different days. How glad was I when my doctor informed me that she wanted me to stay home the entire 6 weeks without me even asking if I could go back to work. I have prepared myself to dole out some tough love when I get back to work so that it is understood that I was not on a vacation and that even though I am back, I will need time to adjust.

Hang in there and take the time that you have left to rest and heal yourself

Update

My husband has been talking daily with my boss. My boss has not called me in several days. :dance2: He told my husband to tell me to take as much time as I needed. Our biggest event of the year is tomorrow (if not postponed due to rain!). Once that is out of the way, I hope my anxiety will lessen enough for me to return to work. I was physically ready weeks ago. I never expected this terrible anxiety! I still have some pains, but nothing to keep me from work. I do think I have a small UTI though. Let's pray that tomorrow's event doesn't get postponed so that I can see if that's the main reason for my anxiety.

Thank all of you for your support!
