Anyone else have a complex cyst?

I just found out my cyst is 5cm and is complex. Doc thinks its an endometrioma with debris and junk in it but isnt sure.....can these be removed or do you usually loose your ovary? My doc said he will see when he gets in there.......
I know the uterus is going as its 17 X 14 and full of fibroids.

Anyone else have a complex cyst?

My complex cyst turned out to be an endometrioma, softball sized by the time I had my surgery (it was 6 cm. on the ultrasound a few weeks before). The ovary was pretty much destroyed, so I did lose it. It depends on how much of the ovary is involved - some cysts grow attached to the outside and can be relatively easily removed, some grow from deep within. Like your Dr said, he won't know until he can get a good look.

Anyone else have a complex cyst?

I had a 5cm complex cyst and when all was said and done - ovary removed. It turned out be a tumor within a tumor (both benign). Funny story- I was out of it when my dr. came to check on me. Dh told me that she took both of them. I of course, thought both ovaries because we had talked about that. He did not ask questions nor did he remember everything she said - just that she took both of them. Men!! Turns out she was talking about two cysts! I wanted my ovary removed because I have always had problems with them. But sometimes they can be saved. Good luck!
