Extreme pain when I sneeze?????

Hello Ladies! I am at the end of 4 weeks from my TAH. During my surgery they accidently cut my bladder and had to stitch it up during surgery. I had to come home w/ a catherter and was miserable. However, now when I sneeze, I have an extremely sharp burning/tearing pain on my left side just below my belly button. I have been told this is my bladder so I am very worried. When I went in for my TAH, I only had my right ovary and uterus left so they didn't have to remove anything on my left side as my left ovary and both fallopian tubes where taken in another surgery. Has anybody else experienced this pain when sneezing/coughing/laughing? I'm so scared something is wrong w/ my bladder.

Extreme pain when I sneeze?????

Hmmm, I only had that severe pain from laughing, sneezing, coughing, the first week after surgery, but I think having that darn catheter caused problems.

I still occasionally get bladder spasms if I don't drink enough water & stay hydrated, if my bladder gets too full & pushes, or if I take baths and soapy water gets up there. I think if your bladder is full when you cough or something, I'm sure that would push on the incisions. Try to urinate frequently, (but not push hard) to keep your bladder empty so there is less pressure. At least, that is what I still do and it helps. Our insides take longer to heal than 4 weeks. I was having problems for 8 weeks, then woke up one day on week 9 and finally felt better! You had the additional bladder accident which could take a while too...I'm really sorry that happened. Hope you feel better.

Extreme pain when I sneeze?????

I only had discomfort the first 2-3 weeks, but remember, we are all different, I remember once I sneezed lying down and I thought my whole incision opened up from the pain I felt....

let your doctor know this, I pray his answer will put your worries a side.....

Extreme pain when I sneeze?????

Allergies hit me at 4 weeks post op, so I added Benadryl to my meds to avoid the painful stretching sensation. My dr had already recommended it to me at my 2 week post op visit to help with insomina. At 6 weeks, I still get a little discomfort from laughing hard. I still keep my tummy pillow close by, just in case.

I do think that you should mention this to your dr to get his/her insight on the situation, especially since you're having a tearing sensation. If nothing else, maybe you'll get some suggestions on how to minimize the feelings of the sneeze.
