Something amazing I discovered

I'm not sure if I find this funny or strange or what.....so I thought I'd share it with you all and see what you think.
I've posted about my urinary troubles recently and how I'm headed back to surgery in a few weeks to redo things. One of my main problems is my bladder retaining too much urine and the TOT sling being too tight and preventing me from emptying completely. All of this time (5 1/2 weeks postop) I've been sitting upright when I pee, totally relaxing myself, willing the pee to come out. It hasn't been working well cause all I ever get is a really weak, slow stream.
Yesterday, I was sitting down to pee when I had to bend over for something on the floor.....and what do you know...the urine came rushing out (like it used to prior to the TOT sling), strong and steady!! As a test, I sat upright mid-stream and it almost completely stopped. So I bent over again, and more came out.
I can't believe it. There is proof right there (that I can't wait to share with my doctor on June 9th) that we are choosing the best path by re-doing the surgery in a different way.
But isn't that just amazing??!?? Has anyone else noticed this? Or am I just out there on my own with this experience?

Something amazing I discovered

Hi MusicLvr,
I noticed this after my TOT sling in December 2007 and I thought it was amazing too. I actually posted it twice on HS when gals were struggling to pee. I am sorry you didn't see it.
When I had my TOT my urogynecologist also told me it might be too tight and I may need to have it loosened.

Good luck to you and big hugs!
Tracy

Something amazing I discovered

I have heard of stories like this...I had a TVT urethra sling back in 2002....it solved all my leaking problems and no urinary problems to speak of after, other than an occasional bout of cystitis.....well, I had a Davinci Robotic Surgery LSH done this past Aug with mesh repair for cystocele and rectocele...I have had slight leaking problems since...mainly after I go, when I stand up to pull up pants, a few drops will leak out...or if I bend over in a certain way....I gave it time to heal, figuring surgery aggravated it, but it still seems to be happening...she states she did not go near the urethra, but will take a look to see if anything happened with urethra sling (performed by another surgeon)....I said I will wait...I do not want 3rd surgery yet.....if I have any major leakage in the future, than I would definetely opt to redo it......but anyway, I did notice that certain positions my flow may be stronger than other positions.....good luck

Something amazing I discovered

I don't have a sling but I noticed this when I was pregnant with my kids years ago. I would lean forward and more would come out! I had a TAH/BSO on Apr 23. The past week I have had feelings of pressure on my bladder. No pain, just the feeling to go constantly. I always make sure to lean forward to make sure everything comes out.

How nice to have a place to post these things!

MusicLvr, I noticed this prior to my hysterectomy. I was having the same stuff you were experiencing for years. To completely empty my bladder, I'd have to lean left for a moment...lean right...lean forward. Things have improved since my surgery; not 100%, but I'm grateful for whatever return to normalcy I get. Funny, I'm still doing the lean thing.

Ribyra, I've had that drops thing since a forceps delivery. I either do a few kegels before standing, which seems to eliminate those drops, or I hold a small wad of toilet paper beneath me as I rise.

Who woulda thunk we'd be having such experiences? I'm glad there is a place to share all the stuff that made me feel so alone and defective for so long. When I get some extra money here, I'm definitely upgrading my membership.
