weight lose or gain, why?

I was wondering if we tend to lose weight right after surgery, or gain and why. Then in the long run, same question.

I know everyone is different. Keeping ovaries or not might make a difference.
So ladies who have been there... what happens?

Personally I am getting a LSH-BSO.

weight lose or gain, why?

I am almost 7 weeks out. I had everything removed and am 51 years young. I lost 5-8 pounds after surgery. Good luck to both of you!

Best of luck. Hopefully I will be done and asleep by noon. Originally I was going to be a noon appt. But i am diabetic and can't go that long without crashing. The hospital says it never uses latex products. But since I am also allergic to latex, they try to get me in earlier then later. Something about cross contamination with latex.

I will be thinking of you, hping for the best. What kind are you getting.

I guess we will walk this weight gain/lose together...

weight lose or gain, why?

I haven't had my hyster. yet, but I shattered my leg several years ago and had to have surgery to put it back together. I lost a lot of weight over the course of several weeks because I had to be on pain meds for so long--they completely took my appetite away. I literally couldn't find anything to wear in my closet! As soon as I stopped the pain meds, I got my appetite back and gradually returned to my normal weight. People also tend to lose weight post-op due to loss of muscle mass from so much rest, but that will come back as soon as you resume your normal activities.

weight lose or gain, why?

I had LSH/BSO in September. I did gain, but then again, I was already on an uphill journey in that department. I have now begun eating well and exercising and have lost about 4 (in a month!!!), but feel like it's more age-related than anything else. I think the loss of hormones may add to the issue, but I wasn't doing well in that department prior to surgery I'm also 48 -- which apparently doesn't help!
Best of luck
