pain meds/lifting toddler - 5 weeks post op

I am just curious. Any of you ladies out there still needing pain meds? I am 5 weeks post vaginal hysterectomy, and I feel great. No pain. No meds. Once in awhile I get achy at night, but not enough to take something. It is like I switched one day and other than being tired (and fat) I am feeling like a new woman!!

Also, I miss picking up and holding my 18 month old. I have heard that even after the 6 week marker, we should be careful lifting heavy objects. I have a toddler, I have to lift here eventually! I have been depending upon others, but hope to be released to lift my toddler at my doctor appt. this week! Any other ladies with babies/toddlers and lifting concerns?

I would get the release from the doctor, then build up your strength. I would start by sitting with her and then standing up at first, then picking her up only a few times a day and building up each day. Just so it is easier on the body. Small steps each day. Good luck, go slowly.

I am 7 weeks post op today from my TVH and I have a toddler. He will be two in a few days and a big Mommy's man. He did not understand that I could not get him. The first few weeks were tough but slowly it got easier and last night I was cooking dinner with him on my hip same as always so you will get there and be able to hold him and and love on him. Just take it easy and pace your self! Take special care!
