Anyone with young children?

I have a 3 yr old and I had a TAH almost 3 weeks ago. I had him by myself today, and it was HORRIBLE! He wouldn't listen to me all day! I feel horrible, I can't take care of my own kid! I still sleep a lot, and i get wore out so quickly. Anyone have any ideas about what I can do?!?!?!?

I know how you feel. We have custody of our 8 month old grandson. My 16 yo helps to take care of him. Do you have anyone that can come in for a few hours each day to help you out. Oh my goodness, a 3 y/o would wear anyone out, much less someone that has just had major surgery. Do you have a church? Maybe someone from the youth group would like to make a little extra money. Playdates are good too. Maybe someone that has a little one would help out. Do not be shy and not ask. This is the only time you get to heal the right way. Blessings to you.

Anyone with young children?

Oh goodness! I couldn't imagine. My youngest is 10 and I had one of her friends here this morning for 4 hours. They were perfectly behaved and I still took a 3 1/2 hour nap when they left this afternoon... I am with the previous poster, I'm thinking finding anyone to help would be a great idea...

Good luck!

Anyone with young children?

Unfortunatly we are 'in between' churchs right now, and i am not from the town i live in now, so all of my family and church family are well over an hour away. i feel so bad that my hubby is having to do all of the house work, cooking, what cleaning he can, dishes, laundry, the kids (8 and 3), and work a 50 to 60 hour week!! I might have to look and see if any of the churches are having VBS this week during the day.... my luck they wont lol guess its back to day care

Anyone with young children?

It must be tough to be away from those who can help at a time like this... I have one suggestion. When I was pregnant with my youngest I was put on bedrest for over a month!!! I had a 3 year old at the time. Being it was over a month, I couldn't have hubby home with me, he had to work! So, we became best friends with The Lion King. I don't usually recommend using the television as a babysitter, but...

I'd lay on the couch with him while he watched that movie over & over & over... lol Bad side is, I can't stand The Lion King any longer...

I might also recommend having your hubby help by getting lots of activities that your 3 year old enjoys around so they are handy while he is at work. Having snacks he enjoys handy would also be helpful.

Hugs to you...I just went through that. At the time of my surgery 4 months ago, my kids were 5 years old and 14 months old.

It is hard but rest as much as possible! DON'T over do it...and try to have a family member (even if they have to come for a day or two) come stay with you. You need to take care of yourself...and I know that is soooo hard to do when you have little ones.

I am so sorry you are feeling this way....I think you should not feel so bad about the work your husband has to take on...I am sure he is your biggest supporter and although he may be tired, he would have it no other way....maybe you cannot do the lifting for a while but, it is the summer...could you hire a teenager from your neighborhood to do the running while you are still there to supervise?? It is great for their experienece and they are young and more resilient to do the running...who knows, you may find someone you can trust to watch your child after you recover and take hubby out to thank him for his extra attention

Anyone with young children?

When I was on bed rest (had a 3yr. old and preg. after 2 miscarriages) My husband moved a tv in our bedroom and my daughter learned real fast how to put in a movie and press play. We would snuggle and watch the movies together. It was the most I could do with her at the time and at least we had time together.

As far as the house work goes, don't worry about it. It is his turn to help you - remember your vows!?! You would help him if he had surgery and you wouldn't think a thing about it. He is just as able to do things as you are, although you will probably have different styles and ideas on clean. But this is just for a short while you recover, you can catch things up when you are feeling better- just take it slow when you do!!!

You will only get this one chance to it right and take care of yourself.
