I had my hysterectomy on the evening of 9th June, came home 4 days later. Also managed to keep my ovaries but my cervix and uterus were removed.

In reality the operation was much less stressful than I'd expected. Stopped all pain relief after about 10 days because I felt so good I didn't want to mask my pain and risk doing too much. Also suffering a bit with lightheadedness as I saw another lady mentioned and I can't believe the tiredness plus seem to have an increased thirst. Does anyone know if know if that is normal?

Am walking daily albeit like an old lady! Yesterday increased my walks to 2 a day. Wish I'd discoverd this site prior to my surgery as I think its brilliant and I am glad to be part of something which helps make the prospect of a hysterectomy less daunting for those waiting or surgery.

It's great to have you join us as this truly is the most amazing site for information and support!

I'm glad your recovery is going well but it is still early days and tiredness is not unusual following majory surgery. It would be worth, however, contacting your doctor about this, plus the lightheadedness and increased thirst, in particular. It's always best to err on the side of caution and nip any potential problems in the bud.

Sending all good wishes for continued smooth healing!
