What am I gonna need in my bedroom?

Hi, my HYST. was on July 1 and I was worried about what I would need also. I even had thoughts of laying in my room and no one coming in to check on me. But you will be up and moving around sooner then you thought. I only retreat to my room now only if I am tired and need to rest. Besides the walking around will help immensely with your recovery. But if you have some reason that you need to stay in bed longer then expected get a small cooler for drinks and water. And get some small containers of snacks if you have to. Good luck and wishing you a speedy recovery. I have only been home for 3 days now. And I fel pretty good outside of the gas pains, make sure you stock up on GAS-X.

What am I gonna need in my bedroom?

I am 2 weeks post-op. I also had glasses for reading & distance to watch TV, books for when you are off pain meds enough to read, chapstick, writing tablet for thoughts & pen or pencil, my laptop, thank you cards & lots of pillows. I had TVH/BSO so no incision. I found that I was up around the house a little the first day home, just not upstairs for a couple days.
I wish you the very best recovery. God Bless

What am I gonna need in my bedroom?

Hi ladies, I will be 6 months post-op tomorrow, and doing well. Other than having migraines, which I'm working with my DR on. Anyways, one thing that helped me afterwards was having a baby monitor in the bedroom. My DH got approval to work from home for 4 weeks and was able to set up a computer in the basement and worked from there. He set up the monitor by the bed where I was and the receiver was by his computer. I accidently dropped a book and he came running. He thought I had fallen or something. If I needed anything all I had to do was ask, and he was right there.
I also had puzzle books like crosswords, and word search books to keep my mind busy. I found that I can only watch so much tv then it gets to be boring.
Well good luck ladies, take care.

What am I gonna need in my bedroom?

If no one is home with you make sure you have a phone or cell phone where you can easily reach it. Good luck!

What am I gonna need in my bedroom?

Hello Mrs. Keidis,

I am also having my SVH via the DaVinci robot on July 17th. I sat in bed last night TRYING to write a list of things I will need bedside at home as well as for the trip to the hospital. I STILL have the pen to the paper! THe only thing I can think of is s step stool cause my bed is kinda high. A cooler for my favorite drinks, remote for the Lifetime tv movies, favorite BOOK, pen and paper and of course a phone.

I pray for a successful surgery and speedy recovery for both of us!

What am I gonna need in my bedroom?

I thought of putting a supply of clean undies and nighties on the linen chest so I don't have to bend to get them out of the bottom drawer of the dresser. Definately the phone! Maybe a notebook and pencil if you need to take a message, or make a note of anything you need DH to get for you in case you forget before he goes to work again!

What am I gonna need in my bedroom?

Hello.
Im 3 weeks post op and heres what I had and still have as my essentials:

Water- you cant have enough of that( even think about a small portable fridge)

Notebook or Journal- I use mine daily

Meds- Keep those in arms reach

Phone- weither its cell or landline

Bell- I used that for the day I came home when I couldnt yell for someone to help me- I had help only the day I came home- PLEASE make sure you have help for longer...

Shower chair- Yes I used one and still do, the heat from the shower feels so good, but I couldnt stand for over a week in there and tubs are a no no so I got a shower chair...lol

Hot packs or Water bottle for warm water- helps your tummy alot with spasms and pain

Snacks- I had chips, pretzels crackers that kind of thing, you can chose your own at will...lol

Drs, Family and Friends numbers- just in case you need someone to talk too or have post op questions for the Dr.

Fan- I made hubby go get me a standing fan with remote- those hot flashes were killer.

Im sure if I forgot something the other sisters can fill in.

I wish you luck, love and a speedy recovery

What am I gonna need in my bedroom?

If you don't have a baby monitor, perhaps you have a couple of two way radios, i.e. Walky Talkies. I will give my daughter one after my surgery and I will keep one with me. That way I can call her when I need something.

Good Luck!
