how much fluid is adequate?

After having 2 Uti's, I'm really conscious about fluid drinking. I drink some tea and coffee too. How much fluids/water do your drink a day without feeling like you are always having to go?

Drinking water will help flush the bacteria out of your system. I'd suggest 8 - 8oz. glasses per day, but your doctor will be able to better advise you. Drinking cranberry juice should help, and avoid drinks containing caffeine or alcohol.

how much fluid is adequate?

I see a Urologist every couple of months. Infections can come from lots of things. My specialist said that cranberry juice works in the test tube, but not much with people.

I don't measure my water intake, but I drink very little caffeine and lots of water, REAL lemonade and Orange Juice. I had kidney stones, so I drink those all the time. Decaf. tea also.

Fluids are the best thing for the kidneys and bladder. Drinking is imp. after surgery also.

Lemon in water is good. Lemonade made properly is wonderful. Not the junky kind, real lemonade. Same with Orange Juice. You can buy fakey stuff or really great juice. You can make or buy good lemonade. I also drink water with lemon.

I like lemon in carbonated water(not mineral water).
sort of like soda. Tastes fresh! Also low acid orange juice.

Over time my doctors have changed the "rules" for me based on my health at the time. So it is best to discuss with your doctor specifically how much water and how much fluid you should drink. At one time, anything liquid I drank counted toward the amount of fluid I was suppose to drink. Now I am suppose to drink set amount of water besides anything else I drink! So check and see what your doctor thinks is best for you!
